Well ..... This antenna is touchy about how you set it up and I still have 2:1 or higher on all 3 bands. NOW It's not as bad as it seems to make it work right you must have radials for all 3 bands which I'm still working on but so far here goes..... 20 meters 14.250 mhz VSWR = 2.2:1 worked the midwest no problem ...... 15 Meters 21.290 mhz VSWR = 3:1 worked Costa Rica and into South America. 10 Meterc 28.360 VSWR 2.5:1 worked CLEARWATER FL ( 5 Miles ) yep that band was dead .... The change was 5 to 7 "S" units BETTER than a G5RV-JR on ALL bands and even though tuning up one of these can be a bit of a problem its a very good antenna for thoes with limited space and at about $130 one of the lower priced ones. what other antennas do you currently have up & use, bruce? what do you think of THEM? is the 12avq going to be a replacement for 1 that's already up, or is it to cover a band you currently have no antenna for? |

A ringo ranger for FM and stacked squailos for omi horizontal 6 meters the 4 elm hygain is being cleaned up a new balum and new feed line because that band will soon be open. Also have a 6 meter vertical for FM HF I replaced a DX-CC with a G5RV-JR BAD MOVE and now the 12AVQ will replace the g5rv at this time im thinking out my next move to cover 40 and 75...... 17 meter dipole made of hamsticks 11 meters a hamstick dipole which i also use for 10 vertical.
