What are you trying to do?
If your running a Imax 2000 they are going to be very close. If someone has ran both I would like yourself like to see any differences and how they measured them.
Over more than 45 years I have run just about every kind on vertical there is on a number of bands and the law of antenna gain applies no mater who makes it or what band.

Don't waste your money! If your trying to improve over using a Imax or similar antenna, go with a 3 or 4 element beam. Maco brand/ ect.

Can't get a better antenna than the Smoking Gun II for the money. Bring it over and put it in My rafters. I will take good care of it for You. Have had mine up for 15 years with no problems. But if I ever did, I would have a spare. Don't believe everything they tell You on here.

To each his own. Just because the masses like one thing doesn't mean it's right or wrong for you. In the radio world, you have to find what trips your trigger. We tend to jump on band wagons here. For example, Wilson 1000, Imax 2000, etc. They are excellent antennas. But just because lots of folks pile on and say it's best doesn't mean there is anything wrong with your starduster or astroplane. Actually, there is an application for some antennas that may actually make them superior to the ones the masses go on about, in some cases. For example, from test done by techs here and I concur by my personal experience, the astroplane antenna is about tops in a groud plane when you can only get it up about 10 feet off the ground or very low heights. Having said that, I'm a huge Wilson 1000 and Imax 2000 fan. I haven't changed. If that Smoking Gun II makes you happy, I'm happy for you and personally would love to see one up close. I love the radio hobby. Let's talk on those radios and use those antennas.
