Just wondering. It's pretty long, and should be efficient. Longer than the wilson 1000/5000, just a smaller diameter coil. Whaddaya think? |

Yes, I am using one now and have been since April 13th, 2007 and the overall performance in side by side testing against other base loaded antennas is EXCELLENT and has outperformed every antenna that I have tested it against so far! Jeff Moderator636 from OH. is also the proud owner of a Z-180 antenna. My MOBILE ANTENNA SHOOTOUT Review should be posted soon. Good antenna but the Wilson 1000 was quieter on receive in my tests and talked just as far. Mikefromms |

Yes Dale, I have had a Z-180 Antenna now for about 6 months and It did INDEED out talked my Wilson 1000 around an S unit with more modulation punch and kept up with a 102" stainless steel whip that I was also using previously. The Z-180 seems to be MORE QUIET by at least 1 to 2 - S units, especially around those High Line areas. And seems to have better ears and at least 20% more gain than the Wilson 1000 on transmit. I did my own Antenna test with the Z and the Wilson and the 102" Whip. It was one needle width less than the 102" Whip at a 20 mile range and seem to work better when I turned my vehicle in a 360 degree pattern. It had a flat SWR from 26.000 all the way to about 29.900 (very comparable to the 102" all the way in performace only smaller in size (77 1/2"). Less of an eye sore than that 102" whip too. I use it with a President HR2510 Radio that has an output of 50 Watts PEP on SSB. And it DOES SUPER ! with this radio. Only $49.95. It is a REAL DEAL antenna. My friend just ordered one last week from Copper. He is also a Wilson 1000 owner too. But I loaned him my Z-180 and he loves it really well. Just thought this would help too... PS: get one NO REGRETS! |

I'm not knocking the Z-180, just noticed it was noiser than my Wilson 1000. For similar performance the Wilson 1000 is about 15+ inches shorter, if I remember right. Mikefromms |

Mikefromms, Was your testing performed in side by side testing with both the Wilson and Z-180 mounted on the roof at: 5/10/15/20/25/and 30 miles with the vehicle being Mobile and Parked ? Or did you just test it with just a Single Antenna mounted in the center of roof for comparison with the vehicle being mobile and parked at: 5/10/15/20/25/and 30 miles? And did you also test it against signal's sent and received from your base station to your mobile and from your mobile to your base station antenna? Note! This would take two people to properly test it so that you could compare your readings to and from your base station to your mobile, and to and from your mobile to your base station under the same conditions. I'm going to do a search on the z-180. If I remember right, I was singing it's praises a couple of years ago, but few people thought much of it then. Hummmmm. Mikefromms |

I started this same discussion back in 2005. I reread the posts there, and at the time copper didn't carry this antenna. I seemed to have really liked it but had an issue with it hitting limbs and working the small set screws loose. Mikefromms |
