Highlander:Looking at your profile for you to be politically correct there needs to be a mic in your hand although a moderate amount of Jim Beam might be in order to loosen you up for a ratchet jaw session.73

Hehehehe. Actually, that is a single malt scotch whisky that I'm enjoying in that photo. But I like an occasional bourbon sometimes, too!

It'd be cool if more forum people would upload a pic...Its always interesting to see what people look like after you have "known" them for a while, on radio or the 'net! I have a funny story about such an experience(radio), but this is not the right venue to go into it. <--pun.

Well I got my pic up today. Updated my profile a bit to. So now there is a face, ugly as it may be, to go with the name. Funny thing is, I never even thought I would fill in the profile. Then one day I decided to fill it in a little, you know. Just what I ran for CB gear. Now it's full! I guess I must be staying for awhile. Just like that out-of-state relative that shows up. Next thing you know they are getting mail at your house! *G* Take care all, we're off the key!

Vernonott: Thanks. I know a few folks who would call me nuts for saying it. But I have never used one, so I guess I can be qouted as saying so. I hope the "Big Boys" out there in skipland can forgive me! *G*

Hey Taz, if you're only 15, how can you have a Palomar amp listed under "mobile" equipment? I take it that you have your setup ready to go so that the day you turn 16, you can be a mobile airwave assasin. I did the same thing when I was 16, just remember, don't talk trash to a bunch of drunk cowboys on the radio if they have a meter on theirs. They can find you, and proceed to whollop on you. Not that it ever happend to me or anything. But seriously, it's nice to see some young people who aren't just into cell phones and what brand of clothes to wear. Believe me, the more you learn about anything right now, the more it pays off later, no matter what you end up doing. Right on, keep it up. 73's Big Dan

WELL, i guess im ready too let some stuff out here
I have my mobile equipment in my truck right now.
But I dont have a licence. But when my dad takes me out driving way out in the "woods" (in the middle of nowear) I am able to drive and talk on the radio in the truck. It just happened to be that all of my older stuff was all mobile equipment and its all going into the truck. But I dont care what cloths I wear, but to an extent. I dont have a cell phone and dont want one for that fact. Its just one more thing to lose.

and yes bruce i am talking about a ham test

Taz good luck at your age i was in a tech high school learning what would be my trade. Like most 15 year olds i scronged up stuff fron " radio row " which be came the world trade center and converted a lot of WW2 surplus to work on the ham bands although this would not be a wise choice today. As a young HAM like your self i loved the freedom and excitement of being able to do things on my own... ofcourse in thoes days a radio in a car was a major undertaking even a small set was the size of a microwave oven but cars were bigger too. Trust me on this i know where your comming from... ben there and done that .... almost 40 years ago

Bruce, you tripped me out when you mentioned the radio row in NYC I remember all that good stuff sometime sitting in the rain. My father use to go there to buy tubes for his rig. Just hearing you talk about brought back memories. (thanks) I tell people about it now and they think me crazy. TAke care.

Taz, wish I had a father like that when I was growing up, had to go to grandads house to see and use radio's, my dad alway's said thats kid stuff(hmm I was a kid then). Now I'm a HAM DAD, sorry had to put that in. By trade I was an aircraft mech. but now I work on cell sites, trouble shoot, repair, design the rf side and all kinda wierd stuff so to speek, it's a radio not a phone.(by the way I hate them too and don't own one.) Go for what you want, I say that with a large(.)
