im know this forum is about radios ! but i was helping a guy build a pond before winter got here ! now we have come to the point we need a overflow pipe ! but how big should it be !
the pond it 2 covers 2 acers and it so far it should have pretty good runoff into it ! so how big should we go 12" 16" 20" we have stop at this point till we can figure this out !

Theres a lot of variables.. How deep? And is it exactly 2 acres?

Allagator, Your pipe diameter should be dictated by the volume of water produced during a "normal" rainfall, so you being in IL. I wouldn't think you would need anything larger than an 8-12" pipe, Also its a good idea to design an emergency spillway to handle the volume of water in a flood event.

well he talked to a guy today and he told him a 10 inch would work fine with a runaround so i guess in the morning we are going to go get some pipe !

Duck its just a little over a 2 acres and after the dam is finished it should be little over 20 foot deep at the pipe ! but it will catch every thing off the hay field that runs out of it ! + what comes from part of the pasture !
