Knottyboy,

Nope, since Channel 13 / 27.115 AM/LSB is the Official CEF Radio Club STANDBY Channel, I just leave the Radios set on Channel 13 / 27.115 AM and Channel 13 / 27.115LSB.

talked to coyote/cef443 in tennessee today, along with LOTS of others, including a bunch from kentucky. but no 273/crybaby

call during tomorrows net time & see who hears ya!

i don't track dx either. before i shut my radio off, i turn it to channel 6. if i turn it on & the meter is in the RED, dx is probably running

pat, that's the exact way i do it!

except i use 19. if 19 is at 5 or more S units, i know the DX is rolling.
i'll start on 26.835, then hit ch.13, then move up to 27.515, 535, or 555.
then start over if the conditions are still rolling.

i keep a US map on the wall by the radio, and after about three or four contacts, you can look at the map and see where the conditions are.
and how they change throughout the day.

coyote,
26.835 can get pretty competitive. when i hear two or more stations key up at s-9 plus, i just back off and listen. those guys are running BIG TIME power!

try to get me on 27.515lsb, or 27.475lsb, or 27.535usb.
those are the uppers that i will sit and monitor.
lately, DX has been running from about 9am pacific to 12pm. so try me around 10AM pacific time tomorrow on 27.515. i'll be there listening.

when i started using 26.835 in the 70's it was 'the baby bowl'-the guys who hung out on ch 6 but didn't have the fl2100 or sb220 to be able to get into the mix. it's still the baby bowl, guys who can't get out on ch 6, but even the baby bowl has more then its share of 21-pill mobiles & multi KW bases...i need another job

27.385 LSB for most US DX, 515, 535, 555 for exotic. will check LSB 515 as well kid. an hour ago in mobile DX was all georgia.

Hey KV, well durn.. I guess I need to mod that 148 GTL and put it in my truck, cause I'll be at work at that time. It would be my lunch time though. Guess I need to get to work on that radio so I can go to those channels in the mobile. My TRC-453 COULD do it if I replace the PLL chip. Don't think I'm up to doing that mod. That little radio is in to good a shape and talks good the way it is. I'll just switch radios and put the TRC in my wifes van.
