Is there such thing as short distance skip? The other night I was talking to people in Wisconsin. Near the Illinois border. I'm in easternmost part of Iowa. We were talking and wondering if it was a line of sight sort of thing or if it was skipping off the upper atmosphere. It was only a couple hundred miles. I was using my klv400 and they had their own klv.

Yes, 200 miles is short skip, I do contacts here within the state lines of Oklahoma as much as 200 miles to the northeastern corner of the state, but can do line of sight up to around 80-90 miles, as most of Oklahoma is flat except for a few small low mountains about 45 miles south of me, about the size of what we call hills back home in upstate New York. |

Hmm some short skip here would be better than no skip at all!! Especially since there are a few CEF members about 150 miles away! Outkast CEF 650 |
