Just this AM I was wondering about those boxes myself when making an order for some other odds and ends. I already have all kind of radio/electronic stuff laying around doing nothing do Ineed 10/20/50 dollars more? Maybe we should all get a free grab bag from copper before taking the big step. I do like surprizes though as long as I get my social securities check worth. What do you get when you cross a roadrunner with a aligator? |

What's wrong with *some* used PL259's? I have some I bought in the 70s and am still using them. Contrary to popular belief, if you do it right, there is NO need to solder those pesky holes in the body of the connector, and the connector CAN be put on and used again and again. Often, when one solders those blasted holes, he will NEVER get the connector off again because the solder "wicks" all thru the body of the thing and if you heat it enough to get all the solder out, well, it's ruined anyway!

WOW! I can't believe the interest in grab boxes. I am going to have one of our warehouse guys open a random $10 grab box and list the contents, which I will post here. What's interesting is I know several customers who have bought more than one grab box. So rather than being unhappy with the contents they chose to purchase more. |

good info. we appreciate you opening a random box for us. i think if i had even a incling of what was in them, i wouldnt be so timid to try one. rover, is the price of PL-259's really that high that you have to recycle 30 year old ones? and being that the PL-259 is not a great 50ohm connector to begin with, doing everything possible to prevent loss is a matter of course. solder the connectors in ALL the holes. folding back the braid and twisting on the connector is the easy way out. call any place that does only coax cable and ask their tech what his/her opinion is. my bet is that you will not find ONE that says it's OK not to solder the holes. |

My jumpers were not soldered from copper Even if you do solder thru the holes, I do "outside connectors" to keep moisture from getting in the dielectric, they will come off with ease if you have patience. Usually I cut off the cable about 1" from the body and dissect it from the inside out pulling the tip first then gutting it. When you are done you will have sheild wires and solder. Heat the solder and pull the braid with pliers, then suck out the old solder. If you are careful, connectors will not "degrade" with installation. Heck I'm serious, I'ma gonna buy the bag-o-used ones for cheap, there's a TON in there! But I have to admit, it's easier when you have a nice re-work station Chad |

It is a Little Fat Blonde Girl with a White Silk Nightie Transmit Doll that Light's up when you key your Mic. You can set them on your dash or in your back window of your car. Add a Coax Jumper to one side of her from your radio and your Antenna Coax to the other side of her and she is ready to light up the World every time you key the mic. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Al_lafon, Here is a post from last year I made. Ok, I can not remember what area of the forum I seen the post's in but over the last several months I have seen posts asking about the Little Lights that fit on the Top of Mobile and Whip Antennas that light up when you key the mic. WELL SURPRISE, SURPRISE! While at COPPER HEAD QUARTERS, I had the chance and time to go over EVERY SHELF and I seen this strange box so I pulled it down and WOW it had 1000 AMBER(Amber) and 1000 GREEN Lightning Bugs (Those little 1 - 1/2 inch Lights) that fit on the top of Antenna Whips. I could only find one Part # for both colors so if you order them PLEASE be sure mention the COLOR "AMBER or GREEN" that you want. *** GREEN NEON LIGHT F/NIGHT STICK ORANGE NEON LIGHT F/NIGHT STICK Fits on Tunable Night Sticks & Mobile Antennas. NOTE! I checked to see what they will fit and they will fit the Wilson Lil Will, Wilson 1000 w/ tip cut off, Wilson 2000 Trucker, K30 Mag Mount and the K40 and the SKIP SHOOTER ANTENNAS as well as any mobile whip with the smaller tip. Have FUN FOLKS and get your Orders Placed only 1000 of each color left. CLICK on the LINK BELOW to take you back to the Original Topic and where you will find a Picture of them. Antenna Lights Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |
