Copper Forum Members, From now on any post from one Forum Member to another Forum Member that has "e-mail me" included in it will be Refused by the Copper Forum Moderator's on Instructions from the Copper Forummaster. If you wish to contact someone they should have their e-mail address listed in their Profile or the PM feature activated or if someone wants to e-mail you then YOU should have YOUR e-mail address listed in YOUR Profile or have the PM feature activated in Your Profile so someone can PM you. This is being done to protect forum members who don't want to be contacted from having to publicly say so. There are basically three levels any user can choose. 1)Make your email address viewable to any forum member. This tells everyone you don't mind being contacted. 2)Accept private messages but don't show your email address. This tells everyone you want to stay somewhat anonymous but you don't mind receiving private messages. 3)Hide your email address and don't accept private messages. This tells everyone you do not want to be contacted off the forum. When someone ignores these settings and says "email me" we the forum moderators see that as an intrusion on the other members wishes. Now someone might say what if the other member has their email address viewable. Well that means we as moderators have to open the other members' profile and see if their email address is veiwable. This takes a lot of time. The quickest solution is if you just email the other member directly saving the moderators from having to check the status and approve the post. |

i dont see why people have a problem with this. if you post in a thread, and say, email me; it means that you have some info for that person that is either not right for this forum, or is private. why add the extra step? if you have info for someone; just email or PM them! if they dont accept those; then they dont want the info bad enough, and you are off the hook. seems simple, matt |

Dx431, Yes because the moderators can't see all the previous messages in the thread when they are looking at the messages in the que. Therefore they can't determine if you are directing your post at an individual or the group. If you ask a question and the answer can't be posted on the forum then all the person answering has to do is click on your username to find your email address and answer you directly.

Ok, say my email address is hidden, which it is, but my PM is open, can I ask the person to PM me? Or is that out too? |

Dx431, Why don't you just email or pm the person you want to talk to? |

You're missing the point. The person I would like to talk to, thier email is hidden and thier PM is inactive. My email is hidden but my PM is active, can I ask that person to PM me?

Dx431, The point is the person chose to hide their email and to not accept pm's. Obviously their wish is to not be contacted off the forum. Your request for an email or a pm therefore would not be welcome. |
