1st off I like to say welcome back Paul.
2nd it's folks like yourself that most of copper members look up to for the "RIGHT" answers.
There are just to many so called self name golden screw driver etc etc out there that don't know jack ________ when it come to this hobby and with that in mind it's nice to find someone like yourself when real question's need answer's.

Hi everyone!

I am quite flattered, thank you. When I joined the Copper ranks, there was nothing more than a 'registry'. I registered myself and a friend of mine that had just passed away. There was no forum or chat, but it was fun to be able to look people up. Looking through my old receipts, the oldest Copper purchase I can find was a Zachary T base station radio in 1984. It was for a boy scout troop.

When the forum was introduced, I signed up (I forget what my original user name was). I just lurked around a bit and once in a while, I would offer some input, then get shot down in flames! I signed up a couple different times under different names just to shake off the old. Then, the Forum Master suggested I become a Copper Tech. We spent many hours over many days speaking via telephone about this and related items. He said it did not pay money, but paid big dividends in helping others. I eagerly signed on. F.M. thought that by adding the 'tech' prefix, my input would have more validity. Next thing I know, my new 'Tech 833' title was popping up all over the place. I had a much larger impact than I ever imagined.

Something I learned that I practice every day, and here on the forum- People like when someone tells them the truth, not just what they want to hear. I quickly built a reputation of telling the truth no matter how much it hurts. This sometimes gets me some hate mail, but most of the time there is a 'lot of love in the room'. The best part about the 'Tech' job is the opportunity to help people in a forum like this one with Copper having your back. For every person I anger, I help 30. That's not too bad I hope.

I do have very poor social skills (I prove that all the time), so thank you all for seeing through my sometimes harsh wording and making this a lot of fun!
