The Magnum 257 advertizes "Automatic Call Frequency Control (FM 29.600 MHz)" What is "Automatic" about it?

It is suppose to DEFAULT to 29.600 but it DEFAULT's to 29.300. When all memory is lost this is the frequency it will go to ....The HTX-10 does the same. |

I still have to turn the radio to FM and dial in 29600KHZ. My question is -what is happening "AUTOMATICALLY". Certainly my radio does not change mode and freq if it detects a signal there? That would be AUTOMATIC. so, My question is -what is happening "AUTOMATICALLY".

I wonder how one can make the Memory go away so that a feature like that would be of value. Also, I don't know what the value of automatically setting the radio to a frequency and mode that I will never use? |
