Anybody know where i can find a shareware/freeware program to do LC calculations etc. Just nailed a "Classic" catswhisker on E-Bay. been 30 years since i fooled around with crystal radios. also any info on high Q spider coils or "Basket" coils would be helpfull |

I took a look at the xtal set society web site a couple of days ago. I'm looking for a program(s) that I can figure out the inductances / capacitances to cover different frequencies. (l/c ratios) and to figure out the number of turns needed for different coil diams. etc. I have the formulas somewhere, Havnt used them in years (also have the ARRL Handbook)(need to invest in a scientific calculator) But it would be easier (quicker) if i had the progs to plug the wanted values in etc. Heard that spider coils work better but never tried them before. also heard the same thing about "Basket" coils" never used either before new territory to experiment with!! |

Microsoft Windows has a built in scientific calculator, click on view while in the calculator applet. I did see a JS based program that calculated the coils. Shame I formatted my hard drive last night or else I would give you that link. Let me see if I can find it again... |
