looking thru an internet auction site, i am amazed at the ignorance of some of the sellers, like the mic with the four pin cobra plug, it looked to me like it could be a plug for a hundred different radios

Yup, could be for a Cobra, a Teaberry, a Realistic, like you said, could be for a hundred different radio's. Guess it all depend's on how its wired.

My gripe ........ about HONESTY OF SELLERS !
Last month ....
DRAKE TR-3 ( 1960's ) radio ( NO POWER SUPPLY NO SPEAKER )
Worked fine but stopped working so i dont have time to fix it ...... When asked about the supply " I NEVER HAD ONE " .......OK
( LIER, LIER pants on fire...... LOL )
STILL !!!!! he got $200 bucks for this radio ....
It was missing a knob and just by the photos had not been used in maby 30 years.
This is why i DISCURAGE buying old radios Tube sets are expensive to fix and give you little for your money..... And internet auction prices are nuts!

I've bought a ton of various cb goods over the years, and ya have to be really careful to make sure you know exactly what your getting. I always make sure there's lot of pics, I ask lots of questions, and I really like when the seller offers Paypal. Although I did get a Cobra 2000 once, had no pictures of it, just the seller saying the condition is an 8 out of 10 and it went pretty cheap. It needed a few bulbs replaced, but I took the chance, and ended up getting a good deal. I've been looking at tube radios and amplifiers, but so far I haven't bought anything yet. Just recently bought some D104 parts for my Silver Eagle with a missing vertical key bar, and very pleased! For projects, sometimes you really hit a goldmine on Internet auction sites!
