I started looking for several external speakers to buy yesterday. Could not believe that all the different kinds that I have bought for an average of $5 to $7 has gone up to an average of are you ready for this? "$15.00" for an external speaker! I can only believe that cost of fuel has given some of these distribution companies a way to jack up prices on accessories very quickly. Keith in Atlanta CEF 150 |

Yes, it could be./ Price of food going up around here due to high gas pump prices. Cost more to truck things now. Fuel around here for my car is $2.13 for regular & will go up higher toward Summer, according to the news reports. JIM/ PA/ CEF 375 |

Keith, Shipping went SKY High way back when fuel was much cheaper. Figure a dealer has to buy that speaker from a supplier then the supplier needs to buy it from a distributor and the distributor has to buy it from the manufacturer. And then if it is an independent radio shop he is darn well going to make money on it or go out of business. And guess what? YOU are the little man at the end of the line that has to pay all of the rest of them. But the higher fuel prices will be handed down to everyone in the long line of products for the public. Makes buying your equipment from Copper with the LOW prices much more attractive for the Copper Forum Members. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

Subject: Just a little humor at the pump Think a gallon of gas is expensive? This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective. Compared with Gasoline ................................... Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ........ $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19...........$9.52 per gallon Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ...... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 . $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid12 oz $3.15 $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ..... $123.20 per gallon Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ......... .. $25.42 per gallon Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .....$84.48 per gallon And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water 9 oz $1.49..........$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.) So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil. Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump... CEF:227 Pennsylvania.

And the funny thing is I have not seen any posts from people crying about the prices you posted above. I guess if it goes in the Tummy it is ok but if it goes in the Tank LOOK OUT! Oh you also forgot the price of Tidy Bowl Toilet Cleaner. We get a kick out of the people who take gallon jugs into the supermarkets here to fill them from the Water Machines at 2.50 a gallon because it says PURE WATER. Guess they forget to look at the water line hooked to the machine from the City Water Supply pumping all that water into it. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Also makes me think, where does this Arkansas mountain spring water that I buy in six packs of 17oz. bottles at $1.00 a six pack, come from. |

Yankee, that Arkansas Mountain Spring Water is suppose to come from the springs around Hot Springs, Arkansas. But who knows. I read not long about about one company down there that advertised their's as spring water and come to find out it was coming right from the Hot Springs City water supply, of course it was ok, just not as advertised. Everyone to their old thinking, but I know our city water is safe where I live, and I had much rather trust it than something in a bottle I know nothing about. |

Buy yourself an Reverse Osmosis water filtration system, or if you want really pure water buy a water distiller. I bought one years ago at Sears for less than $100 on sale and I've NEVER bought bottled water. |

Its been on the news that soaring diesel fuel prices is effecting food costs and a chain reaction of other products./ As for water, i have a water filtration like Racer X speaks about./ Who knows where that stuff from the stores comes from. Could come from our local creeks as far as we know...LOL.../ 477, that gas pump humor was a good one... LOL... Hopefully, it never comes down to us having to fill our tanks with Nyquil./ But, of course people are going to cry about high prices./ You got to remember there's less fortunate people out there than some of us./ The person doing his best only to find a $5.15 hr job./ Minus cost of health insurance, minus cost of killer gas prices just to go to work, minus soaring house-hold bills, what! none left for high cost of food./ How about somebody being disabled, they didn't ask to be that way./ Just be thankful some of us don't have to cry about these things./ And let those alone that just want to get it off there chest... I will try not to get carried away with my post. I have been disabled since 1995 and my check is for a whopping $409.50 a month. I have medicare which pays for 80% of my medical and leaves me 20% to pay. That may not sound like too much, but the last time I had a stroke, I was in Intensive Care in a coma for about three months at over $6000 a day. Figure 20% of that and what my end will pay. On top of this I have $595.28 a month for medicine which thank the companies that help with medication and my family that provides my pleasures in life, like my CB & ham equipment. I just live life the best I can and leave the rest up to the Man upstairs. I may not be in excellent health, but it sure beats the alternative. I don't have to worry about the price of gas because I can't drive anymore. So you see, they have taken almost everything from me, but they can't take my pride and dignity. Thanks Forummaster for the place to vent my frustrations. Semper Fi!!! Unit199 Harve CEF210 __________________________ Never kick a cow patty on a hot day!!!
