Personally I would tell my friend Sorry but NO! While the 2510 is a very good radio, it does not compare or have the features of the 2970DX unless the 2510 has had the Chip Switch done to it and then I still would not trade. Now if he added $200.00 to trade with the 2510 and ONLY if it DID Have the Chip Switch done to it then maybe, but I doubt it. Just my personal thoughts, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

WHAT??? Wait a minute, your friend is very smart. Don't do it, the 2970DX is worth over double of what the 2510 is, plus the 2970 is a lot more radio than the 2510. A like new 2510 not all chopped up might bring around $150.00 at the most, and the 2970 DX still sells at $360.00 plus shipping. The 2510 has been out of production for several years now. No, the 2510 doesn't rock the 2970 DX is the one to own. In past years I've owned Both a 2510 and a Ranger 2950 and I found the Ranger to be a whole lot more radio. |

As others have stated, a 2510 is not worth a 2970DX. A 2510 is worth an original 2950, but not even a newer 2950DX. If he wants your 2970DX, have him throw in $150. Then it would be a fair deal. |

I'll trade you my Magnum 257 for your 2970DX. If you trade me the radio plus $50 I might consider the trade. In short...keep the radio man! |

I agree Mrsandman - I prefer the 2510 to the 2950 - and by a wide margin. The chipswitch makes it a non-contest. I'd never buy a 2970, but I can see why someone would choose one over a 2510 if they really depend on higher power. |
