We had some bad weather last night. It was interesting that some other hams came down or up to ch. 39 and were tracking weather right there on ch. 39. I'm a ham too. They had been on 2 meters but came back to 11 meters to watch the weather. I told the guys it was good that they were not ashamed to come down or up here to communicate and talk to the chicken banders (well I didn't actually say that, LOL). One of them replied, "well we got our start here on 11 meters and the other frequencies are just there if I want to use them with my license." Now, that's class! The cbers who never experienced storm chances had an opportunity to hear it live right there on ch. 39. They were spotting and using the radar on computer. What a treat! Mikefromms |

Wish they would do that here, I would be set! I have a few chasers in my area (myself included). It would be nice to use CB as I do not have a ticket (ham) and keep doppler live in the truck with me. Sure would make life easier and safer for people with CB abilities. It IS after all the Citizens Band, may as well be a good citizen! Chad |

Cool deal. Several years ago we had a snow storm that shut down our area for a couple of days. My friends and I were on 37 LSB for most of the storm discussing it and the different weather reports we were seeing and hearing from the local media. I guess you could say it was an unofficial weather net. During the storm and while the roads were being cleared we had lots of folks join in on the frequency and quite a few were amateurs. There was activity for several days straight and for a long time afterward folks would stop by to say hello and chat. |

CB is more versatile and user friendly than ham radio. Ham radio is not all it's cracked up to be. I came back to CB after a few years of HAM HF-ing. CB RULES ! |

What?!? How is CB more versatile than amateur radio? Amateur radio can be used in so many more ways than CB that I can't understand how anyone can actually make that statement. |
