Guys, trying to get back on the air here in South America. Currently living in a pre-fab metal home with a slightly angled metal roof, standard metal R panel. If I have my wilson 1000 sent down, mount it right in the center of the roof, how do you guys think it will perform. I'd like to get back into the CEF nets. This is about best I can do and maintain a low profile. Having a radio sent down is no problem so I'll probably run my Connes 4800 through this. Seems like it should work well with this large metal base for counterpoise.

392,

I cannot see why it would not work.

I have a friend who lives on the top floor of a 4 story brick apartment building with a balcony and a 8x14 wood roof over it.

The landlord will not allow him to mount an antenna on the roof of the building do to possible damage or leaks.

So he mounted a 8x8 piece of 1/8 inch steel plate on the balcony roof and grounded it to the electricial box and has a Wilson 1000 stuck right in the middle of it.

He lives about 14 miles south of us and 90% of the time he gets out good.

Before CEF #156 / Redman was able to get his tower up, I let him use a Mag Mount and a Anttron A-1700 and it worked great for him with it mounted on a window air conditioner.

Hope this helps,

Lon

Thanks Lon, I hope to be back on the net in a few weeks, that is if I can get in from Colombia, with just the Connex alone, no additional power for now. Hey I have forgotten my CEF #? I joined right at the first 2 years ago. Can you help me out with this?

Thanks again
