I was just wondering what every ones age was. There seem to be fewer and fewer young people (which I am one of) on the air, fewer every day it seems. I would be willing to take a bet that the average age of every one responding on this thread is about 40-50. So? What's your age? BC I'll start, 24 Y/O Born in 1980 BC |

Skilletlicker, I'm a 1935 model and my knee action ain't too good either. One of them is about worn out, they said it needs a replacement joint, but it's gonna have to get a lot worst before that little deal takes place. I remember those old cars with knee action shocks.

I'm 36. My favorite number for a couple of things, but not when it comes to age. I'm past the 1/2 way point and picking up speed. Chad - Your dog looks better than Keith Richards! Hotwire - I had two different sets of CB walkie talkies on channel 14. That's how I grew to hate 9v batteries. They cost too much and ran down too fast! |

Born in 63, so 41, started in radio back in 1975 when the craze hit Australia, man I was looking at an old log book from 77' , I was talking all over Europe, USA,EVERYWHERE actually on 12 watts pep, and a Rat Shack (Though in Australia it's called "Tandy") 5/8 ground plane, the type with the 3 little wires on the top. I was thinking the same thing about radio and age as well. I get the CQ ham mag (I am a full VK2 ham) and the guys they feature look as exciting as an accountants Xmas party !!! They really need a good PR company to make it look more "hip" to the general public. I love this hobby, but most people regard us on the same level as a stamp collector!!ha ha.. I keep telling my girlfriend that it is very cool, especially when an Eagles song is on radio..."see Joe Walsh is into radio and he's up there in the cool catagory"....I just get a "yeah right"....ha ha.. They have dropped the CW code for Aussies now, thank god!! Maybe it will get more people to get into this "cool" hobby!! Cheers from Hong Kong! Andrew 739 KD7WYA |

I'm old enough to remember, the Beatles comming to AMERICA for the first time, old enough to remember JFK assassination, and Martin Luther King Jr., I'm old enough to remember penney candy, buying cigs. at age 13 for $.35 and gasoline at 3 gal. for $1.00. I remember when my father had CB license # KHD9165. I remember the "Mid-Western CB Club" of my home town having weekly meetings, and scheduled "coffee breaks". I remember knowing everyone in town who had cb antennas because they belonged to the same club. BUT for the life of me I can't remember my age. I was born Feb. 13,1956. believe me i'm trying, lon. the young 1 has no real interest in radio, yet. though at times he finds it amusing talking to me on the radio. the older 1 is close, he even goes through the technician practice questions occassionally. & he does love his walkie talkies & messing with the echo & talkback on my S9 when i'm mobile & he's home. touch the icom or yaesu without me being there, or guiding him over the radio will NOT happen though. at least he follows some directions, if i could only get him to clean his room now... |

Maybe we could all pull our money toguether and hire a few of their marking people to work for the radio hobby instead. *cough* *cough* *hack* *cough* *HOCK* *spit!* Darn tabacco companies! BC |

Well, Looks like im the youngest so far, 21, half the age of the average, but ive noticed that more and more younger people are starting to get into radio, Ive been messing around with radio since I was about 10, made my first DX contact from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Anchorage Alaska 2 weeks after I hooked up my first radio, A old realistic that I found one day that was my grandfathers..... been on and off over the years.... dont let my age fool ya, I would rather have a nice clean sounding station, shoot some DX and treat othe opperaters with respect than just jabberjaw, cuss and sound like you know what, like alot of people do... Hey Shady, what part of NW Florida are you in? I left Pensacola in June 2003. I may be headed back there in the future depending on circumstances. I know many people on the radio in Pensacola. Alsworld CEF 101 799 North West Washington (formerly 799 NW Florida) |

No one was born in 1971, no one, are people still having babbies???? there are three types of babies to choose from, the Hal baby that surely is ugly, burns burgers or the cute little KB babies that come with their own GED test thru 6th grade, then there is the Lon baby and you better not squeeze this one. |

No one was born in 1971, because they were "hatched". Lets see... In dog years, (1 human year= 7 dog years), I would be 49. But in reality I'm "Only" 47 years of age. Wolverine. |

well, as my name suggests, im of the younger bunch. im 30 years old, born in 1974. i got into radio when i was 11, and took apart my dads police band radio. he saw an oppurtunity instead of a punishment, and bought me a VHF receiver kit from RS. i hooked that sucker to the window screen, heard some road workers talking, looked out back, and there they were!, right up the street. then dad brought home a TRC-440 navajo base station that his engineering firm used to use, we put a mag mount on the rain gutter and i made my first breaks. the first contact i made was a trucker who asked me my handle; i told him it was Sid Vicious. (i was a big s$x p*stols fan in those days). he asked how old i was, and when i told him i was 12, he said, "$%#*, youre just a kid! im gonna call you "kid vicious". and that handle just stuck with me for a long while. it was my handle in wyoming, and was my handle here in vegas for quite a few years. i run equipment that is the same age as me or older. my truck is also from the 70's. they sure made great cars and radios back then! later! matt |

welcome to the addiction maillady!!! rule #1 on cb'ing- never, ever, ever, take anyone seriously on the radio. do not believe anything you hear. do not get angry at obnoxious jerks. do not tell anyone any personal info about you. rule#2 on cb'ing- when in doubt; refer to rule #1. im only kidding, but it seems that cb'ers love to give the girls a hard time. get yourself ready with a couple of good zingers to put them in their place, and you'll have the respect of everyone on the channel. BTW, just so i dont hijack the thread; im 30 years old. matt |

I'm right behind that old rascal Skilletlicker. And after all the years I've been radioing, everytime the DX starts rolling I'm like a kid with a new toy. BTW: how old is dirt these days anyway. I've been rode hard and hung out wet, over these senior years. As far as age in years, this old "Needlebender" lost count back there someplace. Now there I've finally went and posted my old AM handle, been a long time since I've used the handle. Carl CEF-357 |

Wow, unless I missed somethin, I'm the youngest youngun' on the forums. 16 here. I've been talking since around I was around 13. My first radio was a Cobra HH34 hand held. Talked to a few truckers and I was ready for a base. My first base setup was a Cobra 25 LTD Classic, A-99, 50' Mini 8, and a Pyramid power supply. Man did I have fun on that setup. It took me a couple months to actually talk on it because I was new to everything, we didn't have the antenna grounded. When we did that, boy did I start talking. First person I made contact with was Heppy Peppy. Wasn't long before I let everyone talk me into a new base radio, which I bought in late 2003. It was a Connex 3300, which I currently still use as my base station radio now. I moved my 25LTD into my truck and got a 4' Wilson Fiberglass. That would be my background. |

mine doesn't part, musket, its just got a hole in the back-so i can add more 'smarts' to my brain easily. & it starts pretty high on my forehead-my 12 year old remembers when i had LONG hair, like 1/2 way down my back, so he keeps his buzzed like mine now, he doesn't want his hair to slide off the back of his head like mine did! |

Lets see now 1955 and Air Force in February 1956, I think it would be great grandchildren. And of course Bruce being from New York City fought in the uniform of The New York Regulars. A lot of my ancestory fought with the Vermont Green Mountain Men (Roger's Rangers), being as we lived so close to the Vermont line and only 20 miles from some of the main Vermont encampments. Some of my older ancestery marched with Washington at Saratoga New York. Now comes the real history, what is now Schuylerville New York was Saratoga when General Washington accepted the surrender of General Burgoyne at Saratoga, and to this day is still called Old Saratoga by many of the older local area people. Lots of war and battle history back home in Northeastern New York. |
