Did you ever notice on the Dukes of Hazzard sometimes one person would be talking on a CB and the other person would be talking back on a telephone? Also, in the Dukes' house their base station only used one of those antennas that you just plug into the back of the base... it wasn't even an external antenna. |

Well, there were several RS model's that had telephone type handset's. Maybe it was one of those. Never noticed the antenna though. |

Cbblackberard - About the telephone - I'm guessing you weren't around for the CB boom back in the mid '70s. CBs with telephone handsets rather than microphones were fairly common. I've got a Johnson Messenger 23 channel AM base station that looks a lot like an office telephone of that period. There is a switch that allows you to play the receive audio just through the handset and when you put it on the hook it'll play through a speaker, or play the received audio through the speaker all of the time. The PTT key is right in the middle of the handset. It works well. My brother had a Radio Shack mobile with a telephone handset in his 1976 Rally Sport Camaro. He bought it because it looked cool compared to a standard CB. |

Hi guys. I had a Lafayette mobile radio that had the telephone handset. I would go down the road and people thought I was talking on a "Car Phone"! Only others who had cb's new better. I would get great comments about how neat it looked though to be driving down the road and talking, but it was fun. This was in 1975 to 1978. Wish I still had it too. I remember that Johnson well. It was also a great looking telephone cb radio. Keith in Atlanta |

What do you maen "being" shot the show had it's last episode 2 years before i was born! now if you mean where the show WAS filmed the name of the town is hollywood all but the first 5 episodes were filmed in california. the first 5 were filmed in GA. and you can tell if you compair the first episodes which were shot at real locations to later ones that were filmed at a stuido back lot.i know,i've read the "unoffical Dukes of Hazzard copanion"cover to cover. |

They're making a Dukes of Hazzard movie. Jessica Simpson is playing Daisy! I would imagine Kid Rock is going to be in it somewhere because he's a huge fan. Jesse James made him a custom bike with a Dukes of Hazzard theme on it, and he owns one of the original Chargers from the TV series. |

The first 5 Was shot in GA the rest in Hollywood. The new movie that is comeing out is being film outside of Baton rouge. Jessica Simpson looks so much better in person met her & Wille Nelson,Burt Renolds. I think the movie will be good but it will never replace the original. |

Yeah i know about the new movie and it doesn't look good. They have Sean Willam Scott (the foul mouthed guy from "American Pie")playing Bo and Johnny Knoxville (from MTV's "Jackass") playing Luke. I hate to say it because i'm such a big dukes fan but i've got a feeling that this movie is going to stink worse then a skunk in a garbage dump. |

I'd been wondering what kinds of radios they had in the original series. I think it may have been covered here, but not sure. My "sometimers" is definitely getting worse, lol. As far as the radios with a handset, I've seen a few in my lifetime. In fact, I think my sister has one that's just laying around, as a collector or whatever. Also, does anyone know what kind of mobile antenna was on The General? Thanx all. |

I have heard this but wondered what people think. Wondering if the Dukes of Hazard movie could spark interest in new cbers? It would be great if the new guys are serious and just dont have a radio to yell yee haa as they jump the town railroad tracks. Also the masses drive these newer cars that hardly have any good counterpoise period. Unlike yesteryear I think people would want the dinky glass mount wannabe antenna or the tiny little magnet mounts that do no justice. I'm glad I own and always do older model cars with lots of metal. Back on topic.....could this movie start a cb boom? or a craze? Anything like the 70s? Or maybe just a little interest to a few? I know with gas getting high I been hearing people looking for the best bargains on cb. Just a couple thoughts to ponder this morning as I drink my coffee and read the mail on 13. |

I thought I had posted something in response to that, HOTWIRE.. I am certain that it will atleast with the younger crowd. I got into CB back about 15 years ago when i was just about to get into HS, then all of a sudden there was a boom around 92 or 93 in my area, atleast 1000 teenagers in our area got on the CB.. now.. some of those teens that stuck with it (only a hand full) are considered the "old school" in Augusta, GA. Actually, another Hollywood trick I have noticed over the years is the use of magnetic-mount base loaded CB antennas to instantly create a radio equipped police car or unmarked detective's car. All the prop master has to do is remove the coaxial cable from the base of the magnetic-mount antenna. Then they can plunk it down on any "police" car or "unmarked" car to give the impression it has a police 2-way radio installed. It is simple and works. However, the radio enthusiast will quickly notice that it is a mag-mount antenna pretending to be a roof-mount antenna. The magnetic base is the giveaway. A real hole-mount antenna has a small base, usually the same size as the loading coil. I have seen these "mag-mount" prop antennas used on the roofs of police cruisers in movies and TV shows. As far as the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV show goes, I expect they used actual trunk-lip mount dummy CB antennas. With all the fish-tailing and broadies they did in the TV show, the dummy mag-mount antennas would have been flung off the vehicles every time. Of course, who would have noticed that minor detail when Daisy Duke was driving... |

Yeah! Daisey's cb handle was BO PEEP.I went to www.dukesofhazzard.com and watched the trailer for the new movie.Theres a few things different from the show.First of all Warner bros. thought that today's sissy tree-hugger generation wouldn't like the reble flag so they left it off the General Lee in the movie and second it's not the family friendly Hazzard that was on tv.There's profanity and sexual inuindo and it's just not the "Dukes" that we have came to know.In fact in one scene in the trailer in looks like Bo gives Rosco the finger. If you're a parent i would go see the movie alone before taking the kids. |

What's the big deal about no flag? Quite a large part of the population doesn't care for what the flag represents. I think it's smart business for the producers to avoid the controversy. Personally I don't understand the attachement to the Confederate Flag. I'm from north of the Mason-Dixon line, but I don't consider myself a Yankee. I don't fly the 33 star US flag which was the flag at the start of the Civil War. Why do some Southerners make such a big deal about it? It's like they have this ancient chip on their shoulders instead of letting it go and getting on with being an American. |
