On my Connex 4800, the clarifier mod that was done is nothing that I have seen before.
It consists of a transistor(3 leg, info scraped off)(flat side up and legs down) the right leg is connected to a wire going to 8v off of IC8, the middle leg is connected to F1 in J9, and the left leg goes to R153(I think). And D68 and R113 are removed.
Can anyone tell me the transistor that is used? With the info scraped off I have no idea what value it is. One of the legs broke off and I need to replace it.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't help ya.
But obviously it's one of those darn techs that make up some funky mod then discuise it or rub off numbers, they are soooo affraid that some one is gonna "steal" their work they will do anything to protect it. Petty in my opinion. On the other hand I knew a tech that used to gut out small caps write his name, number and address on a little (smaller than a fortune cookie paper) piece of paper and roll it up and stick it in the cap then re assemble the cap and "install it"
He had a radio stollen once out of his car and had a suspition of who it was but couldn't prove it. The guy that stole it didn't seem to know who he stole it from, tryed to "mod" it, messed up and just happend to bring it back to the same tech for repair. When he opend it up and saw the cap, he immidiately called the cops and explained the story.
Lomg story short: he got the radio back and the guy got slapped on the wrist.
It is interesting what lengths some people go to for certain things in life, sometimes it even pays off!
I know this wasn't related too much but I thought you might get a kick out of it any way.

I label all my pro stuff inside and got back 2 pieces so far that were stolen from me 5 years ago. Also note lots of gear have the serial numbers inside and outside. I had lots of "borrowed" gear come in for repair, and I also have a database of stolen gear from sound companys and individuals. What comes around goes around, things eventually break and for 5 years of my life I saw a lot of it. I take pride in getting people's stuff back in their hands.
Of all that stuff I got stolen I really want my Anvil Briefcase back with all my portable test equipment and adaptors. It's not the gear I want, it's the case with all my old back stage/crew passes on it. That hurt to loose, kinda sedimental, worked a long time for that collection.
