I bought a new S-3 and put it in my 4-wheeler,i set my swr and used my power meter to see what the radio was putting out,now this isnt a really expensive swr-power meter and it showed I was getting 8 watts dead key and swind up to 25-30,thats a far cry from the 45+ it is advertised on the box.I have the radio running righth to the battery and check the voltage at the battery and was getting 14.7 volts.I also use a Astatic noise cancelling mic.Is it just giving me a false reading because of the meter being a cheap one? I did get my swr on channel 1&40 to 1.5 and on 20 its way down somewhere around .5.The radio works well and im pleased with it just wondered about the power readings. |

all meters read differently (slightly) advertised wattage is higher than actual too, but with my experience Magnum doesn't inflate their figures like that so I woulsd suspect there is a problem somewhere Power should be checked into a dummy load not an antenna, also is the top gun modulator on? Maybe your meter isn't a "peak reading" meater. Sounds like everything is probably fine with the radio just slight number discrepencies. You said "thats a far cry from the 45+ it is advertised on the box" I have to dissagree the difference between 30 and 45 watts is only 15 which makes almost no difference in the end. BC |
