Purplehaze, I would think as tall as it is you should have no problems with it. If all else fails you could run just 1 screw thru the bottom of it to make sure it stayed in place. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Several years back I made my own console to put my radios into a Daihatsu 2 seat (2 cylinders for that)car. I made it out of 3/8" plywood and painted it to match the cars colour. Into that I fitted: 1 x Icom 2410 Dual Band 1 x Yaesu FT-620 6m 1 x Ft-7 HF 1 x RS-2004 scanner 1 x Pearce Simpson Super Panther CB That was the easy part now try fitting antennas for all that on a car not much bigger than a matchbox. Starface - I don't know the vehicle concerned but in the past (both hobby wise and professionally) I have mounted radios in such places as the ashtray, the clip out box suplied for storing tapes ( can be replaced cheaply when you sell the car)and even in aftermarket roof consoles. Hope this gives you a couple of ideas. |

Im in the "design" stages right now I am planning on documenting the whole proccess for my web site. I know that some custom audio type guys make consoles, but I have never seen a console made for CB's and Ham radios before. The plan is to extend the dash from right above the ashtray (right below the AM/FM/CD radio) toward the ground with a slope towards the current console in between the two front seats. Because of how the bronco's dash is laid out and the rest of the truck. The console face has to be at an angle so I can mount the radios at slight angle so the will fit. Other wise mostly they are to deep to fit. BC |

BC, Have you thought about fiberglass? If you have a tolerance for the smell of acetone then it's wonderful to work with, the end result is always pretty chic! |

It's best to sponge with the final filler or better yet the base of the finish. Sponges and fiberglass will leave it quite sharp as the resin dries as hard as a rock and leaves nasty tips. Trust me you WILL be sanding but the finished product will be pretty cool! Chad |

That's what I'm hopeing Chad. I just never have time so it's a long proccess of little bit hear and there for a while. The first of which was changing the lights over to blue in the 2 meter. Now I am in the middle of measurements and fitting/design or whatever you want to call the chaos that surrounds me when I work! BC |
