Ok here goes, I have my S9, and XM radio in my truck both have a cool blue display I thought it would be cool if I could change out the back light for my 2800 to blue also. Has any one done this on one of these before? If so how did ya do it? What do i need LED or what? What voltage etc... I could check all this out for my self but if someone allready knows then that makes it that much easier to make a shopping list Thanks BC |

I was just going to post and ping you, others, who may have info please chime in. First off congrats on the future adddition of the family, it's fun, like a tiny comedian! I plan to pick up a KLV400 for the home and move the KL300P to the truck. (mamaseetah is going to want the trollling motor battery back come fishing season!) The amp will be mounted to the rear wall in an area that is also occupied by audio equipment. Bc, I noticed that you are running AF and RF power in one vehicle also. My questions are 1. The power wire going back has more than enough current capacity to power the RF and AF amplifiers. Will I run into problems with RF on the power wire. I know that the KL300P has leakage onto the DC supply as it really makes my bench supply mad and can be seen inductivley on the scope. Wondering if someone has had problems using the same supply line. 2. The system is tri amped and has no passive crossovers. Because there is no protection to the high frequiency devices I am worried about AF amplifier oscillations that could produce a harmonic that will tear up my high frequency devices (Morel tweeters aren't cheap) On the other side I am also worried about HF AF oscillations that can tear things up without even hearing it start. Do you get any interference between AF and RF amplifiers? Chad |

Crack it open and see how it's illuminated, I asume it's LED's already, if so are they surface mount chips or standard ones? This will get you a good start! I think I'm going to change my Mag257 from blue to green as the blue kills my eyes while driving at night. Funny, we are doing the same thing for opposite reasons Chad |

Bc910, a 15 watt is about right for smd use, just be sure it is a grounded tip for static reasons.a chisel tip will work if you cant find a fork type used for smd's.have a good supply of fresh solder-wick and a good quality small tip solder-suckerwould be handy.and dont forget the lighted magnifier.a small hobbie knife is helpful to pry the old devices loose.if possable try to find an old smd board to practice on first,it dont take much to lift a trace loose in smd work.but the #1 thing you will need is patience.the price you stated above isnt bad for the blue ones.you can also find good deals on the internet auction site for led's in bulk quantities. tech291 CEF#291 kc8zpj |

With the pics I can see why you wanted blue for the background lights on it. I noticed that blue seems to be the color of the moment for truck drivers. Nearly every rig I see has blue lights in the cab. What's the deal? Blue kills my night vision. How does it work for you BC? |
