Does anyone know how to build or know where I can find a kit or plans to build a spark gap transmitter. For those who dont know this was about the very first radio built in the Marconi days. I seen a pic of one and they seem pretty simple. I just wonder how dangerous they are to build or operate. I was readig that Marconi's generated alot of power! Like 30,000 plus watts. To at least have a model replica would be nice. A very good tool of education for youngsters and not to mention myself. Its amazing what we have acomplished in the last 100 years. |

Hotwire Spark gap transmitters are ILLEAGAL. However as a school project and not connected to a antenna you might get away with it. I note that in the spark gat link no mention of the FCC ban is there ........ They were outlawed in the early 1930's and replaced with CW! |

Hey thanks Lon. Hey Bruce dont worry, I would never break the law, especially being unlicensed I will never use an amatuer band until I Get my own license. B.T.W. Some of the local hams here in my town noticed my interest in radio the other day. These older gents told me they need younger people to get involved and invited me to there next meet! COOL! |
