OK. As you read in the title, I was ripped off. I met this guy online a few years back and talked for a bit. Then last month I finally added his screen name to my buddy list again. He seemed nice to talk to, an older gentleman who you could trust. He recently got out of C.B and got his Ham, ticket. He told me he had a base radio, a Uniden Washington that he was selling. He was asking for $50 and $15 shipping. He said it was in good condition and did a 2-watt dead key and swung 32 watts. I believed him. He lived in Florida and I live in Rhode Island. I wrote out a money order for $65 and sent it to him. He never sent me the radio it has been one month and 3 days. Is there anyway I can get my money back, I still got the receipt. And now since he ripped me I am going to buy a nice radio a real new one, what are your suggestions. I don’t want to spend over $200. |

I will be running this in my house with a Shakespear ABS 1600 mounted 30' high. Will a 4-pin Astatic D104-M6B fit on this radio? im out 442 rhode island just got quite |

715: Why don't you try writing him or calling him? Where did you meet this person? 65 dollars for a uniden washington is a great deal. As for a 200 dollar radio, get a VR9000 or a 148 or something. |

If you had used ebay for a transaction like that, you would have been protected. Sounds like a bad deal. I have had a few like that, but I was trading equipment. Stick with ebay for good deals on used gear. |

Contact the company that issued the money order. The larger ones have web sites and toll-free numbers you can call to see if it has been cashed. May not help you get your money back but you can at least see if he got it. |

Hamunition is in Florida, he sounds like just the man to go bust down the ol'mans door!! That is if you have his address. If not, and you sent money to a PO box to someone you met over the internet. Put a dunce cap on stand in the corner for 20 minutes and consider it a semi-cheap lesson learned. |

442 ; If you have his correct name and mailing address, and phone number , as I believe you have since you paid him. Contact the local prosecutor in his area, and give him the details, atleast you have a complaint on file in his area. But first send him a certified letter stating your complaint, and what your intentions are if the person doesn't respond positive to your complaint, to settle the matter, But keep your letter clean, make no threats of of anykind, no arrest, just a clean good taste letter, anyother way it could come back to haunt you. ANd also the same make a complaint to the State Attorney General's office of your state. This is just a recommendation, not legal advice ment. Good Luck, Rosco : Retired PI |

I have a 959 and the ssb is some what unstable i did replace the regulater and audio driver transistor with some improvement. There are other mods to this radio too the AM diode one and a channel guard filter ive done them too now i have 250 in the radio ... kinda pricy sorry but it will be my last Galaxy... next will be a good old rad shack .... if they ever make one again. One note the same mods work on the ranger 2950 on 10 meters a big improvement on ssb some problems on fm but im probley the only person who cares anyway. bruce |
