Are there are frequency mods for a COLT 359 ( same description as the 357 post I made earlier this week, but they told me the wrong model # ).........also need info on the GOOD & BAD parts of owning / using a UNIDEN / PRESIDENT LINCOLN radio ( not a 2510 or a 2600 ). Reason I am looking to use one of these rigs rather than a ranger 2950 is lack of space in small vehicle and dont have enuf $ to buy a new MAGNUM or other small 10 - 11 meter mobile rig. THANKS...kd4amg |

Kd4amg, On the Colt 359 I cannot say if it is the same. The President Lincoln is the EXACT same size as the HR2510 & 2600 radios. You can Type Lincoln in the search box and read for a long time the comments that have already been made here on the forum on the President Lincoln or CLICK on the LINK below read my Review. http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/discus4/board-auth.cgi?lm=1104265848&file=/7750/76482.html Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

I have seen and hooked up the LINCOLN radio...am / fm recieve & transmit appear to be ok. ssb ( both lsb & usb ) and CW there is NO audio output from speaker, . If you transmit, the metershows no output, along with external rf watt meter showing no output on lsb or usb. IF you let go of the mike switch ( normal recieve mode ) the s meter shows full scale, but NO audio through the speaker. All bands appear to be ok...rig looks rough but if it can be fixed easily I would like to know...but in reading this I might be inclined to think " if this were on MY work bench I could work a lot better than through the internet. " No money invested YET, but if it costs too much to fix I might as well buy a new magnum 257 or some other rig. Please advise.

Kd4amg, Time to take it to a good tech to have it checked over. Or a guessing game can go on forever trying to figure out what could be the problem. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

It was taken to a local CB SHOP and left it with the TECH. The tech said yesterday " there are a lot of problems with this rig. it operates just like you told me ( AM & FM rx & TX ok...SSB /CW has no rx audio, s meter reads full scale, key the mike, tx light on meter comes on, but no rf output ). He advised it would take no less than 3 - 5 hours @ $30 per hour so even IF it could be fixed, it would be cheaper to just get ANOTHER used or new rig that did about the same in frequency coverage ". So it is in the past. THANKS for the help & information, I learned a bit, and all who read this are learning some too.

Kd4amg, Very Wise Choice. Sometimes Radio CPR is a waste of time and money and it is better to just let them quietly go to radio heaven. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |
