I'm just getting back into radios after 25 years and I ordered a Imax 2000 and had a couple of friends helping to put it up, we stood it up and a friend was holding it and he let it slip out of his hand and it fell! broke it at one of the junctions so this morning I ordered another one these antennas are getting expensive maybe it was a bad idea getting back into radios? Well I guess I've got extra parts for a Imax now! yee haa. |

Too bad about the imax. No, it's good to have you back in cb. Be sure the Imax has the lock washer installed and tightened down. If you ever decide to become a ham radio operator your imax will operate on 10 and 12 meters and some use them on 15 meters. You didn't make a mistake buying an Imax. Accidents happen. You'll be glad with your purchase. Mikefromms |

70landcruiser If you get lucky enough to get the Imax 2000 replace part, I wouldn't give or sell it away, keep it for a back up, you never know what mother nature has in store day by day...I have 2 of them now.1 for back up....let me tell you a nice story on just how I got the 2nd Imax 2000 for free. I was thinking about buying the GPK from copper to add to the Imax 2000 I already had,Well once I got to the site to order one they were out of stock and had them on back order for sometime. So I went looking else where on the net and came across one(for about the same price $32.00)so I order it, When it came from UPS not only was there the GPK but also a Imax 2000...So what you think I did? I said I'm not going to put this new GPK on the old Imax 2000.. So I took the old Imax 2000 down and put it in the rafter of barn and put the new Imax 2000 with the new GPK on it...now I have a back up Imax 2000 and a new Imax 2000 with the GPK on it all for around $32.00 I just plain lucked out on a great DEAL!!! (someone elses mistake) Bottom line KEEP both Imax's

Hey Starface I think they sent you my Imax! Ha Ha just kiddin. Oh yeah Chad yousaid it right. Wiggly as heck. Did you guys walk your Imaxs up? I think you almost need a crane to go over 40 feet high! Whil I'm on the subject.......I was admiring my Imax and was wondering if the guy wires act any like a groung plain kit. I have 3 guy wires spaced perfect around the bottom of the antenna. Just a thought, anyone else have any thoughts about this or is this just plain ridiculous? |

I'm probably going to keep the second Imax, I got ahold of the manufacture today and there sending me a new center section for the broken antenna, they charged me 30.00 and 5.00 shiping, I'm not as lucky as the guy who got his free! I don't know if its a good deal of not, you can buy a new one for 69.00 but what choice did I have! thanks lon for the Imax info. this forum is great! especially for a guy who is just getting back into radios, oh by the way I did order the second Imax from copper! and because of this forum I'll look towards copper first! |

Hotwire... come get your Imax out of my barn then or I'll charge storage space ...ha ha. Anyways I'm not sure about the guy wires acting as a GPK but it's not a ridiculous question. the only ridiculous question is the one not asked.. and on an avg you only look dumb for 5 min's top.. |
