Well, unless my swr meter has suddenly broken, my Imax 2000 shows less that 1.5 and in most cases 1:1 from 25,000 through 29,699 mhz. I think I'll check it with another swr meter just to be sure! I have the antenna on a test pole about 10 feet above the ground. The closest run of coax I have nearby is about a 200 ft. run of rg8x (don't ask me why I ever made up that length) Don't worry it won't be used when the Imax goes up in the pine. I have LMR-400 for most of that run with just a little rg-8x. Anyway, it's kind of like that commerical, "I can't believe it's butter." Well, I can't believe this Imax actually has this kind of low swr across so many frequencies. I feel like a fool for not already having bought one of these things. Like the other commericial, I'm saying, "wow, I could have had a v-8." This is the proverbial v-8. mikefromms |

In CB bands I average between 1:1.1 and 1:1.5, I never touched the tuning rings! If it ain't broke........ |

Mikefromms, On My Imax with Stock power I get SWR of 1:1, with between 700 and 1000 watts my SWR is 1:3 using 100' of RG213 to Imax. On Beams a 1:1 with out power and with power a 1:2 using 70' of RG213 Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

I'm a ham, also, and I look forward to switching the Imax between my Kenwood and Magnum 257. The Magnum 257 is my base station for cb now. The Imax is hearing really good as I compare to the antenna still in the tree. Can't wait to get the gdp/kit on it (due tomorrow) and the good coax (Friday), and finally, get it up 70+ feet up in the pine tree! If this antenna responds to the rise in height there is no telling what I will be hearing. Later, Mikefromms |

These are the maximum SWR readings I have on my I-Max 2000 and RCI 2970DX and Kenwood TS 480HX. On the RCI 2970DX I used a Radio Shack SWR/Power meter and a PDC 600, the readings on the meters where within a point of each other. 1.5.1 from 28.300 to 29.000 (10m) High point 29.000 1.3.1 from 26.000 to 27.990 (11m) High point 26.000 1.4.1 from 24.930 to 24.990 (12m) across the band On the Kenwood with a well-grounded MFJ-949-E Antenna Tuner SWR/Power meter not tuned I have a maximum of 1.5.1 from 28.300 to 29.690 (10m) High point 29.690 1.1.1 from 24.930 to 24.970 (12m) across the band 1.4.1 from 21.300 to 21.450 (15m) High point 21.450 1.5.1 from 18.110 to 18.168 (17m) across the band On 20 meters the SWR is too high to use without an antenna tuner, but you can tune a flat SWR on 20m, and it does a fair job working DX. When I was shopping for an antenna to go along with my RCI 2970DX, I did a search on the forum and read reviews on the I-Max covering 10 through 12 meters without an antenna tuner. So along with Tech833's review I decided to go with the I-Max 2000. By the way I have never had to make any adjustments to the antenna when running power from 4 watts to 200 watts on a 50-foot section of RG-8x Belden Cable with Amphenol PL259 Connectors. I hope you have as good of luck with yours as I have with mine. Bob

Thanks, Bob, for the information. The broad range on the Imax 2000 is far more than I expected. I was expecting something like a 3:1 on 25.000, 1:5 through 1:1 26.000 through 28.500 and a rise to about 3:1 at 28.800+. But no way! My swr never rises over a 1:5 anywhere on my Magnum 257. It is the most amazing range of useful frequencies I've ever seen. To me, this antenna is the hands down winner for an all-around base station antenna. How can you lose? Mikefromms |

Mikefromms I never moved the rings on my I-Max2000 like I was told, tested SWR'S on the ground 1:3 put it up 1:1 with 100 watts and through the band the I-Max was very close to this without running the tuner! Take care all!!Gage |
