Purplehaze, The swr switch on the back is the SWR Detection Circuit On / Off Switch. From the MAGNUM S-3 OWNERS MANUAL Page #4 under REAR PANEL #4 ~ SWR Detection Circuit On/Off Switch This switch turns the Magnum S-3's SWR detection circuit on or off. When turned off, the SWR warning light on the front panel will not Illuminate. This means if you have it off you will not get the warning light telling you that you have an SWR problem and can blow the radio up with NO Warning. On our S-3 I NEVER turn the radio on Until I KNOW the switch is in the ON Position in case it was bumped to the Off position. If it Lights up when you key up your SWR is High and YOU DO HAVE A PROBLEM! Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

I have the Omega Force S 45. I'm using co phased Frances Truckers. I have not had them checked for SWR. Should I pick up Wilson 1000 or just leave them as is. I have hit a lot trees with them. |

Truckerdon, WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM! If they are working good I personally would leave them alone. And Have your SWR Checked to make sure everything is OK as it is just not worth it to take a cahnce on blowing the S-45 up. I am assuming that you are talking about an OTR/Big Rig Truck. I run a single Wilson 2000 on the drivers side and seem to have better tx / rx then with co-phased 4.5 ft Francis antennas. Being that I'm just a local peddle driver I spend more time off the highway then on it and simply wack everything in sight with antenna on pass side. Most of the techs I spoke with said to run duals on Big Truck to cover each side of trailer but I prefer running single antenna on drivers side. I drive a single axle 2005 Mack Vision with 13ft high,102 inch wide trailer.Just my oponion. |

Most of your signal will probably head towards the passenger rear side of the trailer. I have a FLD 120 and I know when I ran my AR 3500 many moons ago. I ran double truckers on my straight truck. I could talk ssb all over the place. I guess that solar flare has messed up any DXing for awhile. Don CEF 336 |
