Hey all, Well last time I talked about this I was living in Bloomington IN. Since then we have moved towards Indianapolis (about 1 hour north of where we were) I was hoping against all hope that, since there is soooo many people in the Indy area that there would be at least some CB traffic so I can finally put this darn S9 to good LOCAL use! Well it seems that I was wrong, I have heard a few people on SSB but that's it, where is all the Am traffic? There has got to be some ppl out here, it's driving me nuts! I really miss all my So. Cal. am banter, believe it or not I actually miss it, never thought I would say that as much as I complained about it in the past. I guess it makes sense, if I didn't like it I probably wouldn't be in the hobby any way. Here's the point; I can talk on any number of amateur bands/11 meter SSB and have all sorts of proper conversations with good people in a constricted environment, but I really miss that no holds bard, unadulterated, uncensored, crud on AM! I know it seems sacrileges but it's true. I need people in the Indy area to "TURN ON, TUNE IN, and TALK!" arrrgh! Well I don't think I am making sense any more, but I think y'all get my drift. BC

I think most of the local CB Clubs and stuff are gone for good now. CB pretty much had it's hay day in the 70's and 80's. Long gone now are the days of the Good old CB Break.

Are you still mobile only? I am on the East side of Illinois right on I74. I talk to a couple folks in Indiana on CH7AM usually at night after the superbowl wears down. If you have a beam, point it west and see if you hear 403, nice guy and has good audio. I don't know his exact locale but I think he's halfway between you and me! Chad |

I'm roughly an hour north of Indy. Local guys here are usually on channel 23 at night. Due to my schedule, i'm usually not on until well after midnight so the band is pretty dead. |

CB AM traffic is gone??? Just depends where you live./ We have around 6 am cbers in the small town where i live./ Next town about 5 miles away has about 5 cbers./ Then, about 10 miles away there are over 20 some Am-ers./ There is some other people here & there on other channels also./ Hopefully, i can get some of them to join the Copper forum, sooner or later./ JIM/CENTRAL PA/CEF 375 |

Where I live in South Eastern PA the CB crowd is slowly picking up again, last few weeks I heard 4 new stations (all Base) in a 5-10 mile radius they where on in the late 70s early 80s and are getting back into it again. I am asking my old CB buddies if they would want to get back into it again and have the old crowd back on the air and bring back the memories and have fun. Roger/CEF349/airplane |

I live in The Lehigh Valley 50 miles north of philadelphia and the AM traffic around here is great. There is at least 25 people around the area on diffrent channels and no matter what time there is always someone on and there is something good to talk about. CH16 is the hot channel if anyone is close hop on. Ron/CEF 287 |

\red Here in the small town of Woodbury Tn. we have a radio club of about 37 AMer's going strong in a 40 mile radius. There is even one guy from Georgia that check's in with us. We have roll call every Friday night at 8. Usually always someone on the waves here. We still hold occasional "coffee break's" too. Next time I'm up Indy way Bruce, I'll give ya a shout. My wife is from Indianapolis so we visit from time to time to check on all the old friend's and visit her family. You could always move down here Bruce, there's plenty of great guys and gals still rag chew'n for you to talk to! |

Well, I'm in Luzerne county in PA and things have died down here a lot in the past few years. We still have a few big local bases but nothing like it use to be. Still enough people to converse with though. |

I'll be in Indianapolis on Friday Jan. 29th at the 8 Second Saloon. On my drive down from Chicago I'll have the CB on. What channel should I monitor? |

I live in Franklin Indiana, just about 20 miles south of Indianapolis. I am on the air everyday mostly during the early mornings and late nights. Since skip has been winding down I can be found on AM often. Here in Franklin there are a few bases and even more mobiles. Channel 3 is Franklin home channel. Channel 4 is Shelbyville. Give a call to da hotwire on one of these channels. Oh yeah 23 am is my family channel. My dad (Bandito249 or harplayer249) can also be heard out there as well. Good day friends!!! |

Sorry for the delay Bc910.Been busy. Anyway about Greenwood? Its still close enough to Indy so they are all over . I would say Indy and Greenwood operate on 14,17,18,21. I have talk to base stations on all those channels on a regular basis. Oh ch 13 is Greenfield, 7 used to be Plainfeild. You see I was born and raised in Indy. Back in the 80's there was a base channel or 2 for each side of town. Nowadays CB is not like it used to be. It seems that all true CBers have came together kinda mixed around.Just scanning the channels looking for any hint of conversation. Thats another thing! Conversation. I love to ratchet jaw, you know? Get that radio and linear warmed up nice. Today all you here is radio checks, odnoxious whistling and over ridiclous echos and the town idiot who loves his roger beep to much! Only the big dogs leave those mudducks behind. If you make contact with me your sure to get intelligent comversation. So keep on callin for the hotwire especially on early Friday mornings. My dad is cef500. He is on the air too every early morning on the big Imax.He jumps around channels 3,4,13,21. Oh yeah dont forget about the American Kangeroo members on 38LSB. Nice guys they are. hotwire cef491 Franklin, Indiana CH 13,21 am |
