Wow! What a radio! After getting frustrated with trying to get my Texas Star Mod-v to work right with any radio, I decided to break down and add a 95t to the arsenal. I was looking at a couple other radios including the S9 but the 95t fit the bill. I was wondering, is it possible to add a knob somewhere to the case to so that I could have an adjustable echo? How about a separate roger beep switch so I could have the beep and echo? |

no you dont wanna do that. I had it done and I still cant get that darn echo to sound right. taking it back to get it back to factory specs. other then that it is a kick-butt radio for sure. make many contacts so far around the world. |

CBguy is correct - leave the echo exactly where it is as it's set from the factory at the optimum position for clarity & 'thunderous' audio. I use mine with a Turner Expander desk mike and I've had many unsolicited complimentary reports. Not so sure about the power output on SSB - the needle swings to about 60 watts max when speaking normally, although I don't own a Bird Watt meter to verify this. Also the receive tends to be a bit hashy (loud white noise)I'd be particulary keen to hear other owners views on the output before I go to the expense of an accurate meter. Other than that it's a tremendous radio - is it better than a Magnum S9? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM? |

On the Dosy meter, on AM with the power cranked and the mic gain opened up I get about 40 watt dead key and it swings to about 110-120. On sideband, I get about 120. Does this sound about right? |
