I only Use the cb band( base station) and want to know what antenna and coax will do the the best range and recive for me? I now have and Imax 2000 with no gp.kit.it is 30 ft. to the bottom of the mounting mast.My local teck. told me that the Mayco 5/8 ant.with LMR coax is the way to go. Can the Mayco be tuned before its mounted on the mast? |

Danny Max as far as it goes I wouldn't get rid of the I-Max since it is already set up and the GPK is no big deal. If I was going to use a CB only, and did not have the I-Max 2000 already in place, the Maco might be the way I would go. But is there going to be a night and day difference between the two? No! Also LMR 400 is great coax, but it depends on how long of a piece of coax you need. If you keep it under 100 feet, you can get away with RG-8x without a problem. Good RG 8x at 50 or 75 feet will work very well. So yes he's giving you good advice. But if you already have an I-Max 2000 in the air the difference between the 2 would not be worth swapping the I-Max out (Kind of sounds like he’s trying to sell you something). You really should read the review on the I-Max by Tech 833. It can be found to the left under topics go to 1. Subscriber (Preview) Once inside go to 2. Product Reviews Then go to near the bottom of the page and find 3. Imax 2000 Exposed. Tech 833 is a professional Broadcast engineer with over 20 years of real world hands on experience with all types of antennas and is a great source of information for our forum. Others published his review on the I-Max 2000 as well as copperelectronics.com.

Just raise that Imax on up in the air and enjoy it. If you use a lot of freqencies you'd be very disappointed in the Maco 5/8 because it is very narrowbanded compared to the Imax. mikefromms

Wayne, Save your money for something else besides a gpk. All the gpk is made for is tvi. The companies that make them are laughing all the way to the bank. Just my two cents worth. Unit199 Harve CEF210 Semper Fi!!! |

Wayne, Read Tech 833 review on the GPK./ Subscriber (previews), then click on product reviews, scroll to article on GPK./ Other articles there also on A-99 & Imax 2000./ Personally, i didn't see any gain to adding the GPK to my Imax 2000./ I took mine back off./ JIM/CENTRAL PA/CEF 375 |

The GPK is useless as for TVI rap about 6 turns of coax at the antenna base and save yourself the entire cost and get the same results. |
