First off, I'd like to say thanks for the welcome I got in the chat the other night and also from various people emailing me. You sure know how to make a guy feel at home! That brings me to my problem. My nickname, Sheriff, doesn't seem like a good handle for someone to have for a CB in the car. Just wondering if anyone had any other good ideas? A little about myself to help: My name is Ryne Rutkowski, I drive a red 98 ford taurus and I go to Penn State University. here's my website if anyone is really thinking hard about this. http://www.ryneonline.com either way, I got to introduce myself lol! Thanks again! CEF471 |

You want it to be short and memorable. How about Ranger Smith (Yogi Bear - you're probably too young) or just Ranger? Maybe Chainsaw, Hot Saw, Lumberjack, Crosscut, or Mel Lentz? Pick something you enjoy and says something about you. It really should be your choice though, not someone else's. |

I'm thinking maybe I'll just go with Sheriff anyway... I mean, if it was a real cop they wouldn't just say they're the cops. I hate decisions... I do like Ranger and hot saw though... they just sound cool. AND I DO REMEMBER YOGI BEAR!! so what if they were reruns? ;) |

My handle is Road Warrior because while attending a Pro Wrestling event years ago, a fight broke out & Road Warrior (Animal) accidently knocked 2 of my teeth out./I'll never forget the size of that fist....LOL...NWA Wrestling offered & paid to have my teeth fixed./No, i did not sue as it was an accident. SheriffRYAN, i liked that handle you sent to me in your e-mail./ Good Luck on choosing a handle. JIM/CENTRAL PA/CEF 375 |

i've got it down to Sheriff (tried and true nickname through highschool) Ridge Runner (born and raised in the mountains, i ain't no flatlander ;) but someone else on the forums has this but i plan on keeping sheriffryne as my username... ridge rider could be a substitute) blue bandit (penn state, i want to be in the blue band... going with that theme) of course i'll eventually make a decision, but i like to hear people's input too. i really like some of the names you came up with! |

In my opinion, a person's cb handle should fit the person using it. I think every handle I've ever had has related to an interest, or something else about me. My current handle is "Leadfoot", cause I tend to have a lead foot while driving, lol. |

Sherrif is simple and easy to hear. You want it to be simple with the least amount of syllables so far off contacts dont keep coming back sayin.. What was that? You said who? |

iwouldnt go with nohandle if i were you. if you issue yourself a handle and try to be too clever with it, you are opening the door for the locals to chastize you for it. EX: there is a local here that goes by the handle NO NAME. well, he wasnt on the air for two weeks before he got labled NO GAME. he still gets called no game all the time. |

If you don't like your handle the way it is then keep it on the side with your friends and pick a number for skip shouts and "on the road" talk...comes in handy with sideband talk anyway. HECK! Use your CEF number WITHOUT saying "CEF" when not on 27.115! "Break on the freq...how 'bout that fourseventyone ? Got yer ears on Ryne?" OR..your skip shout: "Whos got a copy on this fourseventyone mobeele somewhere 'round Penn state wavin' four fingers and a thumb come on" {insert Q-So here ) "well alright then '905 were getin off this key..we thankyou for the contact and have yourself a superfine evening over there.. this is 471 somwhere central PA and they call me the Sheriff...were on the side readin your mail" (beep) Hank '905 CEF 559 (just noticed his thread started MONTHS ago!...sheriff still around?!) |

I don't have a handle either. I signed up here as Sinker because that is what I go by on Sportfishing Site - why? I sink better than I swim but take my boat out through some crazy stuff anyway so thats what they started calling me. Was talking with my Dad the other night, mentioned I really didn't like Sinker so much especially for the radio. He suggested HAMMERHEAD for a number of reasons: 1) I love to catch them. 2) It was my goal to put a picture of me with a HammerHead Shark next to the picture of my Dad with his HammerHead Shark for about two years before I finally caught my first one. 3) He is a retired Marine with over 260 combat missions during Vietnam and his call sign was HammerHead and he thought it would be neat if I carried the name even if I did my time in the Army - He still gives me hard time about that. I might just go ahead and go with HammerHead_634. I know I don't want to give myself a handle as that just seems weird, plus I am not very clever. I know this is an old thread but figured I would jump on the band wagon so to speak... Tim CEF-634 |
