Rhino, WELCOME TO THE COPPER FORUM! CLICK on the Link Below. There are a Lot of Radios in that Range and all of them are Very Good. It depends on what Features you are looking for in a radio. http://www.copperelectronics.com/cgi-bin/product_display.cgi?categories=RADIOS-10+METER Personally I would suggest looking at the following radios and you can also read the Reviews on many of them in the (Subscriber Preview) Area of the forum also. MAGNUM Radios: 257 / S-3 / M-1 / Delta Force or the S-45 or the Voyage VR9000 or Ranger 2950DX Hope this helps, Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN

How to select a radio... The first thing you have to do is to get out a pad of paper and write down a few goals. What kind of radio do you want (base, mobile, handheld)? What features do you want on the radio? Do you want extra goodies with the radio and if so what? Before you end your list ask around to see what other people have and the little extras that they think make their station stand out. Then you go to the products sold by our good friends who own this board and see what kind of radios they have that meet the requirements that you have just written down. Its that simple. The trick is to write down on paper and looking at your requirements then make the decision based on a thoughtful considered decision rather than emotional purchase.

Bc910, Best radio out there in $200 to $250 range? Sorry but the S-9 does not fall into this category or it would have been at the top of the list. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN |

Rhino That Elco guy is right. You need to decide on the features you want. Then research and find the radio that best matches those features that are most important to you. I love my RCI 2970DX, and would like to recommend the 2950DX, but that's my choice, not yours. I really enjoy SSB and use it almost exclusively, and the RCI's have a few SSB features that are important to me. Others would not appreciate the same features that I would want in a radio. Tech 808 listed several radios that have different features, and would appeal to different people, and as he said “There are a Lot of Radios in that Range and all of them are Very Good” Do some research in the reviews and the search areas, and read what others have said about the radios you might be considering. Good luck and make sure you get the radio you want! Not someone else’s ideal radio, but a radio that has the best match in features that your looking for.
