I had to post this as I know you old-timers will get a laugh. We all know everything looks larger on the ground than it does in the air. I just was not expecting the Imax 2000 to be as FLEXABLE as it is. Shoving that thing on the mast was like trying to operate a pushbutton ceiling fan with a wet noodle. I found that if you move REALLY slow and offset the wobble of the antenna with your body (hips) it happens pretty easy. I looked like a short bald headed belly dancer up there! Good news is that it came in yesterday and skip was really rolling Woo-Hoo! It also survived the winds last night in which my patio furnature and pool cover did not Now we get to see how the rig likes snow. 16 hours and it's seen 2 of the finer elements of Illinois so far. I love it, hope to talk to you all soon, thanks for all your help! Have a great thanksgiving! Chad |

Well, you got your timing down pretty good. I'll try to make a point of stopping by the chat room when I'm by the radio, so we can pick a freq and see if we can QSO. Don't let that thing freak you out too much in the wind, they do look like they're gonna die up there, but I've seen mine go horizontal before, and its been up 3 years now. (It still is, it just isn't at this location) |

That's pretty funny Chad! I had a 35 foot tower and climbed to the top and had someone hand me up my hygain penetrator and trying to balance a 23 foot antenna with a 6 foot pipe in between looked about like a monkey doing you know what to a football. Thank god I have a tripod on my house now. |

Well I thought I throw in my 2 cents worth too here.... All and All nice story chad...Anyways here I go.... My Imax 2000 is on a Rhon 25g tower give or take 40'.... now I think we all seen and/or heard about the hurricane's of 2004 that hit Florida? So that brings me to my point... I live right in the middle of where 3 major cat 4 hurricane's gone through ...now we are talking winds from 115 mph with gust up to 135 mph ... And I cound not belive my eyes that the Imax 2000 just whipped the air like a big fish on the end of a fish rod... all bent over flat but came out ok and SWR to this day still sit at 1.1 to noughing...the funning thing is the only thing that happen was the wind spin the Antenna around and around and un did my coax...when back up the tower, put the coax back in ,came down, checked the SWR and everything was just fine as if nothing ever happen.... I regret that I wasted so much time before I bought my Imax. This is the magic wane antenna. I am a big fan of the Imax now. I hesitated because I had heard stories about the tops breaking out. Mine just bend and flexes back fine. Now, knowing how excellent it gets out and receives, even if it did break I'd just buy anothe one. It's that good! No big metal groundplane with metal prones for me. Goodbye rain noise and varying swr readings when it rains. Imax does it all. mikefromms
