Here's a pic of my Titan DX this morning (sorry for the poor quality). IMAX looks clean but I thought those of you with a GAP can appreciate the 'bend' in the counterpoise! That dang thing was almost on the ground last night. Had about 1/2" of ice on it and it still tuned up on 40 meters under 2:1!! |

Gage, Well your IMAX looks better than our New one! The storm started with Rain then Sleet then SNOW. Had over 8" of Snow here and 10,000 homes and business's are still without Power, they even Shut I-55 & I 74 Down in and out of Bloomington, over 500 Wrecks and cars & trucks in ditches within a 2 hour Span. Had steady winds at 35 to 45 mph and WIND SHEAR rated at 75 to 80 MPH, Also snapped 25 telephone poles in half. Got back home with the new truck and Plow mount and was mounting Plow and the 1st Sargant said OH NO!! look UP! I wished I didn't, New I MAX and New 40 Rohn Push was Bent in half and IMAX is laying on roof with 2 inches of ice on it. Also 1 wire on SE Quads director is off. Wind Shear got the IMAX and bent the Rohn Pole in half and Not even at the joint. 3 sets of guy wires did not help as it bent it at roof level. Next time it will go up on a 40' x 3" Black Gas Pipe or another tower. Only Antenna left and working is the Anttrnn 2/6 meter antenna. Got Redman CEF156 to help Plow in other truck and we put 21 hrs straight in Plowing. After 29 hrs I finaly got a 3 hour nap before thanksgiving diner today. I told him to go home for 4 hours and grab a Nap and then he came back to help me finish plowing. When the Ice melts he will climb our tower and try and re-mount the wire on the SE's. As for Antennas we have to wait for Ice to melt as every thing is Coverd with about 1-1/2 to 2 inches of Ice. Lon Tech808 CEF808 N9OSN PS. LET IT SNOW!!!!!!! SOME MORE, WE NEED MORE MONEY FOR ANTENNAS! |

My Imax Made it through OK I did lower it down when I got home when I noticed the push up bowing badly. Boy those suckers (imax) sure can bend, I was a litle spooked. Lon, I was going to do the black pipe route, Still may before tornado season. Let me know how it turns out if you do this idea! Sooo all the radio gear made it through here, wish I could say the same for the pool cover. Spent Thanksgiving morn dealing with that MESS. |
