TEG,

Probably a SAFTY FEATURE for people like us.

Around here if our radios had VOX installed they would be keyed up 24/7/365.

Between the Chat Room Burping every 20 seconds and Echo Link, and 1 radio on Channel 13 AM and another on 13 LSB, then the 2 Meter on and the 6 Meter on and phone calls, and You have Mail! sounding off it would probably smoke the VOX/radio in under 24 hours.
OOPS forgot about our GOLDEN OLDIE RADIO STATION and TV always on also and the 1st Sargant always shouting you still on that darn computer.

Actually VOX is the 1 feature I just have never seen any reason for.

Cost is the most Factor. Also 11 meter has no cause for it. Now doint get me wrong, it would be nice to have. Amateur radio somtimes we have traffic to control and typing and jotting down call letters , Vox is nice to have in such cases. But honest i doint see mfg putting Vox in CB radios. But i have wonder why export 10 meter has not done so?

I just picked up a head set with vox from that famouse shack place for frs radios for $1.97 on clearence! I'm gonna turn it into a project and try to encorporate it in a mic or a radio or something, havn't figured out how I want to do it yet, but I'll keep y'all informed

The original D201 had VOX - that's the easiest way to tell if it's a D201 or a D201A.

I don't use VOX on any of my radios. Heh, I don't allow AIM to connect automagically, why would I want to pollute the airwaves with every syllable of my voice?

I still rember Lons driving !!!!
OH and KB he did get his DL'S from the crackerjack box cause he still has the box !!!!

But VOX would only be nice on a radio if you was too lazy to pick up the mic !!

Oh yea Vox has been done on CB i rember a guy now that had no way to key the mic so a few friends made him a setup to use his radio useing VOX

You dont have to have VOx to be stupid when i worked for the st pete city radio shop one of the trunking users sat on his mike and proseeded to tell the world what a great boss he had. Remember trunking systems ID every user so with in a few min we got a call from his boss. He didn't get fired but had some big time explaining to do .... just a bit of radio humor.

Heh, I've already made the mistake of accidentally locking the PTT on a speaker mic at a hamfest. It must have been keyed for a few minutes before a friend walked up to me and unlocked it. DOH! VOX would make that error much more likely - for me at least.

I often hear people with VOX activated on their FRS radios saying things I know they didn't want to go over the air. Living near a fairground is kinda cool in that regard. Point the UHF TV antenna in that direction and monitor the business, GMRS, and FRS freqs and you hear it all eventually. We even have some marine VHF activity in the area, and I'm 20 miles away from a navigatable waterway.
