Magnum S-9 or the Galaxy DX95T ? I really like both radios , and they both seem to have the same features . I thought It was the S-9 for sure, now Im leaning more towards the 95T because of the extra power , in everyones opion what is the better radio? Now take into consideration that this radio will be going in a tractor trailer and can be very bumpy at times. allright folks post away Bob...................... |

When my Galaxy 99 went in the freightliner it was about a year old and not a scratch on it, when it left it was 3 months older and drifting off frequency all the way down to 22 MHZ sporadically!!! Tried many times to fix it, had techs look at it, finally got it fixed (MANY bad solder joints aggravated by the truck) Needless to say I sold it immediately and bought an S9 Now To be fair The S9 hasn't seen OTR abuse but in 3 months or so far no problems, it is mobile just not in a big truck. Galaxy used to be my favorite manufacturer, but then I started driving!!! Now as far as extra power goes S9: 45 watts PEP 95T: 200 watts PEP!!! BIG ADVANTAGE S9: Variable TURBO echo 95T: Not variable NOT turbo echo S9: $319.00 95T: $399.99 S9: Double barrel mic jacks! Big PLUS!! 95T: Single mic plug S9: Blue lights (much easier on the eyes) 95T: red lights (almost hurts my eyes) S9: Roger beep 95T: No roger beep S9: TOP GUN MODULATOR!!!!! 95T: Same old audio... S9: Free extra face plate (for customization or future facelift) 95T: What you see is what you get... All in all I like the S9 better, but the choice, ultimately is yours. BC

Vtwinn: I was talking to someone on an S9 yesterday, starting at a range of about 8 miles, and down to 200 yards. Here's my impressions: -first thing - this is the BEST and CLEAREST transmitting radio I can remember hearing. -the Top Gun Modulator - at a distance, his transmit was louder and better with it on, as I got closer the radio was clearer with it off (just like an amp) -his radio was mounted in a Chev. Suburban, with a Predator 10K antenna, no amp. The radio had not been "tuned" - it was straight out of the box. Hope this helps..... |

S9, baby!!! took it for a test ride in my truck, w/dx350hdv-i smoked MY OWN base, 2 of them, 100 watt icom and 150 watt ar3500 on a V5/8 maco. the icom walks over my grant xl w/ the 350 in the truck, and the S9 barefoot in the base does, too! and the S9 is confused with my icom, soundwise,(compressor crunch when too close), which isn't a bad thing, i suppose. i personally would go with the S9 and an add on amp, of course you're gonna be closer to 500 watts, then the 150 or so from the galaxy, and it'll cost a bit more, but... |

Out of the box there is no comparison. The 95T for example has no "front of face" echo controls which have to be adjusted from inside the box. My Magnum journey started with a local on channel 21. When I "heard" his S-3, there wasn't a radio out there that had that "punch". Now my S-3 is my mobile unit, S-9 as my base. Can't go wrong with these. |

I decided on the 95T because there is no one around my area that sells or does work on the magnum radios , I really like the S-9 but I dont want to be shipping the radio back and forth for warranty work when I can drop it around the corner from my yard or just Take the whole truck to the tech for him to work on it , Also I just found that the S-9 is always on back order everywhere I check, Who knows mayby I will work a few more hours and order a s-9 as well . You can never have enough radios. then I will be able to decide what one I like better. But for now the 95T is the practical choice. Thanks again Bob................... |
