Hi
I'm new to this forum and looking forward to get to know some of you.Well this is my first question.
I have a palomar 350z and someone told me in order to use in On cb freqency's it would have to be converted does anyone out there know how this is done I have the schematic. The amp seems to operate fine as far as power up,fan on,tubes light and you can hear the relay kick in on transmit and on pre-amp but there is no output.I just assumed it is because it not converted over not sure just looking for any solution.
Thanks

I'm not aware of any conversion required. Make sure you check out the manual because it has a trouble shooting section. Check to be sure you have the band switch set for 10 meters. How much are you driving it with and what position is the input power switch on the back set for? If you are driving too hard in the low drive position the amp will not key as there is a protection circuit that disables the keying circuit. If you aren't driving it with over 8 -10 watts you might put it on the high drive position anyway just to take the driver section out of line for trouble shooting purposes and see if there is any output.

Thanks
I'll give it a shot.Right now I just using about 5w to drive it.It is keying and I have really tried all the things you mention. It really acts like something is stealing the power before it gets to the output like a cap trying to go bad but they all seem to check good.I want to thank you for getting back with me on this I wasn't sure if this amp had to be modified for 11 meter use.I have the operators and troubleshooting manual along with the schematic but they are a couple of parts that are really not shown on the schematic like it is actually is in the amp that's why I was thinking maybe a mod had be done.I know this sounds crazy but this tube equipment just drives me crazy!!
I am actually a avionics tech I repair all types of equipment from Transponders to VOR,GPS,If it's used on a aircraft I have more than likely had seen the inside of it at one time or another,BUT NO TUBES!!Yesterdays equipment and todays is so different the test equipment I use today will just about tell you the problem.Well stay in touch and I'll keep plucking at it.
