Ive heard of them but no one in my area ever had one.. Too much $$$ for a SSB only radio and most guys back in the late 1970s around my area used SSB and AM both.. But ive heard they were AWESOME on SSB!!!!! Much like the ARF 2001. Good SSB radio but too much $$$ A local told me a while ago that Wawasee Electronics in Syracuse, Ind. (for those that dont know this -WAS- Black Cat that made the famous amps!) had 2 ARF 2001 for sale back when they were being produced. He told me they wanted $1500.00 each back (this was back in 1979/80 mind you) and from what he said they had the radios up until about 1993 and by then they only had one and hey sold it for a mere 300.00 for a NOS radio! A cool radio but it was wayyy more $$ than anyone wanted to pay for a high end CB radio when you could get a good HF rig for less. |
