A local old timer gave me an old raider amp to se if it worked (he never has used it).
I hooked it up and all i get is about 25 watts carrier and about 90 watts swing. What tubes doe it use and whats the expected output? The tune knob works but the load does nothing...

Cm3885,I believe the raider used 4 6jg6 in amp section and a 6aq5a in the keying section.the raider was good for about 300 pep driven mildly.actually one of the cleaner amps d&a made.if the load capacitor has no effect it sounds like the band switching coil has not been modified to operate on 11 meters.just quessing thats the band you checked it on.

Today i took it apart and found that someone drove the load screw completely into itself. The guy that gave it to me said he had another guy try it out and i know the other guy knows nothing about tuning an tube amp..
I screwed it back out and now it will do every bit of 225 watts pep. Cool little driver amp but no SSB delay. Anyone know of a mod to add SSB dealy? The spot tune switch is no longer hooked up so that would make an excellent SSB delay switch.
