I'm trying to run a Cobra 29 on the bench in my garage using a Firestick antenna and a 12 volt battery. I am getting a very high swr reading. I am wondering if is because of a lack of a proper ground. Do I have to ground the radio or antenna or both? What is the best way to do this. Thanks for any help. |

Applejack, You have to be in a "root" area, like "Open Forum" where you will see all the various subtopics listed. Scroll to the bottom of the list and you should see a button for "Create New Conversation". In other words, if you are in one of the subtopics, you won't see this button. Hope this helps! Mark take a 9 foot piece of coated copper wire, bare one end and attach it to antenna mount. That will form a counterpoise. |
