I have a friend that has cancer and is going to pass on, He talks CB a lot now since he is bed ridden. He wants me to place his Cobra 1000 in his coffin with him. I told him that I could do that for him. He wants it powered up and on Ch 4( the local chat channel) so he can hear the chat. I can (I think) put a power plug on the outside of the coffin to plug in but it has me stummped on how to get an antenna hookup. A base antenna is not allowed( to big). Does anyone have any ideas how to do this. Thanks |

You can get yourself if they still sell them the hotdog antenna, there is on coax cable and plugs right into your radio and will work inside buildings I had one many years ago...Good Luck |

Lon, I agree with you that that is a good way to pass on (no pun intended) your radio gear when you pass on. That is your choice and an admirable one at that. But RadioDude's friend wants something different. Like Buck, I would respect that if at all possible. |

I'll tell you what, If someone made me a promise to honor my last wishes, then didn't do it, I'd be haunting that persons nightmares. But that's just me. Even a condemned man was allowed a last request of a smoke etc, before being shot etc. I see nothing wrong with it at all. Let him have his last wish if you can do it. He's been dealt a crappy hand in life, Let him have his dignity in death. |

Thanks Lon. With my line of work, I maintain a will. You just never know... Remember when that little twit didn't wet the sponge for the cajun guy who got the chair? It would be a lot like that. |

I would hope that maybe someone, would think that this is not rational. He is .........dead. Silent key, I don't think that he will be keying up anytime soon. If I had a friend that wanted his radio put in his cofin, I would talk to him about his medication level. I have friends in radio, but I strongly doubt that any of them would want their rig placed in their grave, let alone running with an antenna. Holy molly guys. Sell it, give it to a relative, donate it to a radio club, launch it into space. If you want to judge me because I wouldn't bury a radio in a grave with a battery source and antenna for a friend that has that as his last request. Go ahead and judge me, but don't be upset if I laugh while you do. |

Make sure to set the volume level so it can barley be heard outside the vault. Imagine the poor unsuspecting individual who happens to stroll by and hears voices coming from within. |
