im still looking for an inexpensive ssb radio for my truck since the nightrider 150 is no longer available. the next step is a superstar 3900. if ssb is only used while parked, meaning no constant fiddling with clarifier while driving, would i be content with it or wish i went one more step to the 257? keep in mind I AM A TIGHT WAD! |

put simply you get what you pay for,I wanted the very best base that copper had to offer but did not want built in amp, after much study and prying I decided on the dx2517,I could do no better than this radio it is the best for me,and that is the key words, for me.just keep asking until you get bothersome, then make your desision, that's what I did,and I haven't regreted it. |

The Magnum 257 would be what I would get. I have one and it is a little talker. I use it for a base and mobile both. With the conversion and tuneup this little sucker talks. |
