Hey, so I returned the hacked DX 95T to whom I purchased it from, because it was'nt what I wanted. So I purchased another, free from the "Golden Screwdriver", completely unmodified, so I know someones grubby hands were'nt in my radio before I owned it.
But now I have 2 new problems, I'm getting reports of the echo on when its not(more prevelant with the audio up on the mic gain and the power mic), can prove this to myself by talking with the PA on. AND if I max the mic gain and the power mic volume, it transmits squealing sound (no, the talkback feature is turned off), can witness the awesome looking modulation lamp going nuts plus with the incredible swing of this beast, you can see the needle jumping w/ the the sound of the squeal.
So I have to back off the mic gain 50% to avoid the squealing, (like I really want to do that). I have flat SWR's, have radio hooked up to an Astron 20 amp PS, what can I do besides ship to tech support ( already have an RMA#)..

One thing for sure, If it did'nt have these 2 problems, this beast would raise the dead! Had it hooked to a tuned mobile magnetic mount antenna mounted (indoors) to a large steal kitchen sink, and only pushed this rig to 12 watts on SSB chanel 38 LSB and spoke to a guy in Colorado from NY! Skip of course!

I would deal with 1000 problems just to get to the day where this puppy will runs perfect, its a hot rig..

Any suggestions before I ship to tech support?

Rob

Turn your mike gain all the way up on radio and just crack open the mike gain on the mike, these radios have a very hi-gain mike preamp built in,you are in all likely hood over driving the preamp causing feedback squeal, additionally if the mike cord is in close proximity to the radiation of the antenna it will pick up RF and that will cause squeal.Bigbob

Bigbob, the mike cord IS in close proximity to the magnetic antenna mounted to the kithen sink (pathetic), like only 3 feet away. Plus I am driving it with a blasting mic, the Turner +3B. The weird thing is I get reports of loud audio, but the modulation meter on the rig only peaks at 60%. Anyway the audio is routed through the echo board, I wonder why there is some echo making its way through with the switch off,
is there a way to bypass the echo board internally????, then I would'nt have to ship out the rig monday..

Thanks Bigbob

The echo is your mikes sensitivity is too high turn the microphones gain down and it will go away, and you will still have a booming station, cef 197 told me to be quiet I was walking all over the stations that he was trying to copy.

No way! I love this bad boy! It's got incredible swing WITHOUT the golden screwdriver! The audio is BO-DACIOUS! The louder the audio the more the peak power... Now with an Imax 2000, together we can rule the world! I just need more money, masts, guy wire, good ground, ground plain kit, low loss coax, Imax 2000, low pass filter... I'm on my way..

Rob

One happy camper!

Sounds like a great radio. What will it max out at with swing at a 25% deadkey. The ad in Copper doesn't say. Is it as good on SSB as it is on AM?

Parts man: I dont push the radio much past 4 watts on AM because I'm temporarily using a radio shack cheapy antenna (indoors, no ground, hooked to sink), can only handle like 4 little watts. The swing alone is capable of flikering the high swr lights. I really dont want to fry the finals. BUT with variable power set to 2 watts, loud audio swings the carrier to 30 watts peak. Thats UNMODIFIED my friend, when I had the peaked & tuned version at 2 watts it peaked at 200 watts. That needle was fix'in to break!
On SSB, current setup, I DX'ed Colorado from NY at 12 watts peak ch38 LSB (while using the indoor antenna setup) I could'nt beleive it, thought he didnt hear me till we kept the dialog going then I was like WOW, he's really talking to ME! I would recomend this radio to anybody.
Oh, if anyone experiences the problem I had with the DX 95T, here is the remedy (if your not caring about echo)

>>>To bypass the echo board you will need to remove the three pin white connector on the main located toward the front right corner of the pc board labeled J12. Then remove the same type three pin white connector on the echo board and plug it into J12 on the main pc board. Everything will work normally except there will be no echo.

This was all I needed...

That's a lot of swing. I've got a RCI 6900f150 that I thought was awesome by swinging 110 watts but the 95 T 's got it way beat. Bucks are gone now but you can bet that the Galaxy will be the next radio on the list down the road.

Just wanted to mention that eventually I missed having an echo board, so I called Galaxy and they shipped me another echo board FREE! I got it in 3 days! I popped it in and BINGO, my DX95T is as it should be! Perfect! It was a faulty board..

Galaxy is great! Excellent customer service!
