Well here i go again looking for a new radio for the mobile.
I have it narrowed down to 3 radios the RCI 2970, Connex DXL 4800 and the VR 9000.
Ok heres the questions.
Which of the 3 would be the best choice in terms of reliabilty, talk power on AM and SSB (here is were i leave the 2970 out of the picture) noise to signal ratio and quality?
I am kinda leaning to the 2970 because in my mobile setup i cant really run a radio and an AMP so i kinda like the 100 watt feature of the 2970. |

I think those are all good choices. I would be happiest with the 2970. The only real difference between the 2970 and the other 2 is the synthesizer in the 2970 instead of the PLL in the other 2. (and the higher power). They all have essentially the same circuit design for TX and RX in all modes, so they should all "sound" the same, all other factors (Microphone, operator voice, radio tuning) being equal. |

I think i will go with the 2970 though. If i can find one locally in good cond used ill go that route but as of late that prospect isnt too good now.. But ill save the $$$ and get me a new one!!! |

The 2970dx, not the regular 2970...

No they are not always trouble.. Sorry to disagree with you but ive gotten lots and lots of used equipment wiht no problems.. Some of us cant afford new stuff you know.. Like buying a used car well for me thats way out of my league.. If i can im gonna get a used radio but as a last resort ill get new.... |

Hmm lets see here. My AR 3500 100 watter=used. MY Cobra 142GTL=used. My Cobra 29 LTD classic=used. My Moonrakers(not counting the rotor and coax) and the tower they are on=used.. Hmm most all my stuff is used and works fine! LOL besides my ranger 2995 and the toy behind it though they both are new boughten! :-) |

Perhaps I have just been unlucky---more power(hehe) to you if you have got good used equipment. I have got nothing but burned with used stuff. |

I mostly get my stuff thats used from a guy that has a CB shop that i know and trust.. |
