ryan remember coppers in kentucky and when i was there ( 68-70 ) Things moved a bit slower than you yanks in the north east. Yep even 31w ( the dixie dieway ) few went over the speed limit unless the car and driver were powered by some local brew. I hear the banks there still use 8088 computers ..... no reason to buy that new fangled stuff! So sit back and get ready for your new toy and know you bought from a great place ..... even if the mule they use to get it to the post office might take a while to get it there LOL. Bruce ) ) |

HE HE HE my wife is from belview in eastern ky not too far from HARZARD ... I was stationed at Fort Knox .... yes i got to guard the gold. In the 60's for a boy from brooklyn new york this was culture shock people left doors unlocked trusted others to take care of things if they were gone if the barn burned down they helped to rebuild it. On the down side it was BC .... before copper ..... there was a radio shack just to the south of louisville on 31w that was it! Fond memories of almost 35 years ago! |

CM3885, A wats line is basically the same as a toll free or 800 line. It stands for (W)ide (A)rea (T)elecommunications (S)ervice. |

i say it should take no longer than 2 weeks for a check to clear. i sent it in exactly one week ago expecting to have it by the end of may because im going on a small road trip for that weekend. now theyre telling me i wont have it until june forcing me to be stuck on 23 channels during my road trip with no SSB and a nice fuel pump whine to boot. oh the humanity Forum Master Note : I'm sorry for the inconvenience but we are at the mercy of the banks. We have had some checks take as longs as 6 weeks to clear. We would rather tell you the longer period up front so that you won't be disappointed later.

wow that sucks major! I usually send a $$$ order double enveloped for protection and send it via prioity mail that way i know they will get it.. Besides a $$$ order doesnt need the clearance like a personal check does... |

I cannot understand why it takes a bank so long to clear a check with todays computer systems. Ive been told by a bank teller that they kjnow if the check is good or bad less than a minute after its deposited, so where does the delay come in?? Bruce I use COD for the parts for the MG Im restoring costs an extra $6 but its worth it. Ive always hated paying for parts 2 weeks before I get them - must be the Scottish ancestory in me.. |

Simon, The banks use the money to make money for a few days before they credit it to the receiving party. They call this FLOAT. You can call it anything you like! Barracuda |

Simon. Belive it or not i sent a check to a place (other than Coppers) and it took them 6 weeks to clear a check and it was from a 100% clean account!!!!!!!!!! BY the time i got the equipment i had already lost interest in it!! Thats why anymore i use money orders or the good ol ' plastic... |
