Hey ya'll.. I put up a live stream of my radio receiver on ch38lsb at: radiolink or at radiolink2 It won't be up all the time, but all day today or whenever I remember to turn it on. Of course, you may just hear me tuning around ;-) |

It does work well, so I propose that we (anybody interested in participating) create a sort of network of free web receivers. I will supply the media server(I can handle 2000 connections), and the webpage with links to all the radios, so all anybody needs to participate is: 1. Broadband(cable or DSL, etc) preferably static IP address, although I don't technically have one, my cable modem IP has not changed in a month because the router is always on. 2. Capable of sending radio receive audio into your computer soundcard. 3. Download a copy of Windows Media Encoder (free download) I have a MFJ soundcard interface on mine. There are other simple ways to do this, including a simple Y adaptor off your speaker output, telephone pickup coil on the speaker, computer microphone next to speaker, radio auxiliary output, etc. This would be cool to have going on weekends especially to give everybody an idea what others are receiving and to perhaps hear ourselves as received all over the country. Why am I doing this? Well, I got tired of fighting over control with scanner freaks, crotchety hams, Frenchmen and other goofballs on the existing Javaradios and other web controlled receivers. There are folks out there who simply don't want to share, are impatient, or feel like they are some kind of CB Sheriff hell bent on denying any fun to us 11m guys. I think it's kind of cool to hear yourself coming over a radio 1500 miles away. The Ultimate Radio Check. Anybody want to play? If so, I need your IP address and the port you are sending on. |

Wow! The ultimate "WaterGate". If this technique becomes widespread, it will be the end of shootouts. It would make cheating much harder. That alone would spoil half the fun of the "Key-Down" and "ShootOut" events. I suppose if you held your mike up to the computer speaker, would the propagation delay of the internet audio stream provide the ultimate "echo" ???? Or should I have just stayed quiet about that idea? Too late now. 73 |
