I am currently using an antron 99 and thinking of buying a maco v quad beam. Is the vqaud a good antenna and will i notice much of a difference from the antron 99? Also how does the v quad hold up to high winds. |

a 2 elem quad should produce 1 S unit of real gain and thats alot also you will reject from other directrion .... a lot less receive noise |

I,ve had mine up for a yr. works great especially for dx,I point mine east & talk to Fla. to NY. without moving it. Locally not much dif, except rejection.I have a99 too. Mine is 25ft agl,set on its side L shape,w/gamma match on bottom element. When s/u that way its a full wave delta loop w/ dual polarity. Im always on SSB and it transmits about 8-10mi from the back,12-16 from sides, many miles,35+ front,locally.. 2180 dave |

Has anyone ever wondered why Maco and Wilson called these antennas a quad? |

The same reason Antenna Specialists and Avanti did. It sorta 'looks' like a quad. |
