I have a cobra 25 ltd classic, and I am running cofase coax and would like to run a pair of 102" steel whip antanas but they are too tall so I need to cut them down. What would be the best lenth to cut them to?

???? Why run 2 whips? Power is divided in half as well as the car becomes directional????

Gopher, Get rid of the cophase harness and lose the other whip. Centraly locate the whip on the vhecle and install one 18' peice of mini 8 coax and call it good. You will have low SWRs and will out talk any stock moble around. :)

I think some guys run them that way for looks. I used to talk to a guy that ran them that way on his 4x4 chevy PU on the mirrors. he sounded just fine if he was pointed or coming at me but when he turned his truck broadside to me i lost him!!! They are VERY directional when set up co phased!

Gopher,
Im running a 102 whip with a cobra 25 ltd classic on my truck and it sounds great. The whip is centraly located on the bed rail of the truck and my swr's are 1.2 to 1 across all 40 channels. I have the swivel ball so i can lay the antenna down in when in low clearance areas.
Hope this helps. I wouldnt cut the whip, just get a smaller antenna....
